Hello,
I've heard quite a bit about resource reservation for media services being
defined in 3G/4G standards. Does anyone happen to know if this is actually used
when we stream media to the phone?
Thanks,
Jeremy

Re: Quality-of-service (QoS) Reservation
Data is data. I've never heard of media specifically being treated differently with mobile data networks. The infrastructure that serves that media to phones I'm sure is optimized though. For example, companies may use data networks (CDNs) that serve up that media with servers that are the closest to the phone networks back end connections. The same media may be compressed differently to make it smaller for phone use vs desktop.

Ok, so I suppose it's like the Internet where they defined resource reservation but hardly use it, if at all. Thanks for the comment...
