I have a web browser on my Kyocera Xcursion KX160 (cricket service), but I don't think my service will let me get online with it (if you know how to get it working, please tell me, thanks!). I was wondering if there was a FREE way to send wallpapers online or through your e-mail (possibly) to your phone, I am thinking about getting a data cable soon, but its like 40$.

So, can anyone help me out? Thanks!

If you look online you will find data cables for a lot less.

Ebay is a great place for finding phone cables at a reasonable price. Just make sure you search for the correct cable for your phone.

Hmm, I see. Thanks for the information, but is there a way to send yourself wallpapers for free if you dont have the ability to use the web browser and don't own a data cable?

Time read your manual or download one.

Do you mean free so that you are not paying for email or SMS charges? That would depend on the plan you have with your cell carrier. If you do not have internet access using your phone, the only place the graphic files can come from is, another phone, your computer or magic. And we know how well the magic method works. Hidden Content

But remember that you want to do this for free, so if you are using the internet, it may not be free even if you can do it with email or MMS/SMS.

Looking at your phone it has the following options:

    Enabled with Bluetooth® wireless technology
Bluetooth wireless technology lets you talk hands-free using any
    compatible Bluetooth-enabled accessory

Just the above looks like you should be able to use Bluetooth to transfer from computer with bluetooth to you phone or bluetooth phone to bluetooth phone.

BREW™ 2.1 allows for downloads of games, ringers, contacts and much more

Again the above implies you have web access (if you are paying for web access that is).

Two-way text messaging with Multimedia Messaging Services (MMS); jazz up messaging with pictures, graphics, sounds and fonts

The above again seems to say that you can send and receive messages with pictures and sound files using MMS.. That of course if you are paying for that as part of the plan you have.

    WAP 2.0 Web browser

Again from the above... internet access if you are paying for it in your plan.

So just looking at the info about your phone, appears that you might want to read through your phone's manual and review the cell plan that you have to see what you are paying for and what you can have added to your plan.

If you do not have a manual, just go to the web site for the maker of your phone and see about downloading one, or at least viewing the workings of your phone.

Might be a really good place for you to start learning what you phone can do.

Thanks, I was on another forum and someone posted about him being able to send midi's and wallpapers to his cricket phone (which is a KX160 (my phone too)):

    Hidden Content

So I went on my e-mail and put it in and attached a wallpaper and it sent a few mins to a hour or two later, but I am not sure if it will charge to my bill if I send wallpapers or mp3's/ringtones/etc. to my phone by this method.

    My plan is as follows:

45$ a month - unlimited anytime minutes - unlimited u.s. long distance - unlimited text, picture, and instant messaging - voice mail, caller id, and call waiting

also, to get brew working, I have to play 10$ to activate Cricket Clicks (5$ goes into the flex bucket so I can pay for appilcation, games, wallpapers, ringtones, etc.). That much I know, but I am still searching for how much it is for web browsing.

Hummm since SMS is text messaging, and MMS is a different beast, in most cases a form of email messaging, which cost something per message or in a bundled data plan that includes MMS.

I have a feeling if you do not have a data plan with your carrier, it's going to cost something to send and receive MMS messages,on a pay as you go type deal.

Cricket is pre-paid, no matter how many text messages i send or how long i talk on the phone i still pay 45$ no matter what. So do you think it might charge to send from my e-mail, it says on their website that you can send any cricket user a MMS message from their MMS e-mail address (which is: Hidden Content ), and it doesn't say anything about it charging extra in any way.

It is possible that your prepaid service might deduct from your balance for using this type of data transfer with files attached. I would check with them to be sure before I did any more file transfers, just to be on the safe side and to keep your minutes from disappearing... Hope this helps. Hidden Content

I will check or e-mail them about it. Also, I have no specific amount of minutes, I have unlimited everything (long distance, local calls, text messaging, multimedia messaging, everything).

I know on my plan (Unicel)..i have unlimited text and picture but you only get a certain amount of data transfer time which is what u are using to send urself pictures. So depending on how many you send, and how many free KB of space they give you, you might be charged, you might not.

Ben I think you'd better check into that. Because reading this, tells me that unlimited is only unlimited to the amount you have to spend.

Text out. Speak out. All you want.
All incoming and outgoing text messages are free!*

This is a good thing if you are a txt monkey... Hidden Content

    All inbound calls are free!*
This is great, just as long as everyone you know calls you, rather than you calling them.

    * 10¢ a minute for all outbound calls to anywhere in the U.S, except Alaska, when made from within your calling area.**
This means when you make calls, it come from you pool of prepaid mins. And at .10 per min. Not a real problem if you only make short calls, and never go outside of your calling area, as they will nab you with roaming charges at .69 a min, and that adds up fast. But depending on where you live, that might not be a problem.

    * Incoming calls and all messages are free and unlimited as long as your account balance is at or more than the minimum per-minute charge for calls and they are sent and received within your local calling area.

So Ben do call them to make sure of what your plan offers, so you don't end up with a bill that would make Bill Gates cry.

Yeah it's 45 for those features but if u use above and beyond ur alotted amount then you're charged more. Just as blkbear stated, the "small print", you need to pay attention to that stuff. Like I said about unlimited picture messaging, u don't get charged the fee for the message, you get charged the fee for going over the KB you're given for free.
