News: HTC does not plan on buying out Palm

Not too long ago there were rumors stating that several companies may be interested in buying out Palm. HTC was one of those rumored companies and now, according to Rueters, HTC does not intend to bid on Palm.

Another company that has decided to drop out or not bid on Palm is the company, Huawei, which was also rumored to buy Palm. The only other company that may be still be interested is Lenovo, which has more than $2.4 billion in net cash reserves compared to Palm's $1.3 billion. We will still have to wait and see what happens with Palm, but Palm's CEO, John Rubinstein had recently reported to the Financial Times that they can still make it on their own and that they have a plan that will make them profitable.

One idea that Palm intends to implement is to license its WebOS platform to interested phone makers.
