Managing Connectivity

Disabling Wi-Fi and Bluetooth:

It's always recommended that you disable your smartphone's connectivity features when they're not in use. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can have a negative impact on your device's battery performance if left enabled when not in use, as both features can scan for new devices in the background.

  1. Using two fingers, swipe the "notification" bar down
  2. Tap the tiles associated with "Wi-Fi" and "Bluetooth" in order to disable these features

Disabling GPS:

A smartphone's GPS is one of the most demanding features of a smartphone, and can have a very big negative impact on the handset's battery performance. It's always recommended that you keep GPS disabled when not in use. To do so:

  1. From the home screen, swipe the "notification" bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Go to "Locations"
  4. Clear the check box associated with "Location sources"

Enabling Sleep Mode:

NOTE: When sleep mode is enabled, all of your smartphones data connections are automatically disabled once a certain period of time of inactivity has passed. As a result, the phone's network activity when in sleep mode will be disabled, prolonging the phone's battery life on the long run. Keep in mind that once the phone is out of sleep mode, all data connections will be automatically restored, and they'll once again be disabled after a period of inactivity

  1. Swipe the "Status" bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Under "Phone", tap "Power"
  4. Tap the switch next to "Sleep mode" and set it to "ON"

  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Under "Phone", tap "Display, gestures & buttons"
  4. Tap "Sleep" and choose a lower value such as "15 seconds"

Disabling a Live Wallpaper:

NOTE: live wallpapers can have a big negative impact on your phone's battery performance, and depending on how GPU intensive they are, some of these wallpapers can require more power than others. As such, it's recommended that you use a static wallpaper if you intend on maximizing your phone's battery performance.

  1. Access the smartphone's "settings" menu
  2. Tap "Personalize"
  3. Tap "Wallpaper" and choose "Gallery" or "HTC wallpapers"
  4. Select an image and tap "Accept" or "Done". NOTE: when choosing an image from the "Gallery", you'll have to crop / resize it before setting it as a wallpaper

  1. Launch the "Internet" app
  2. Tap the "Menu" button
  3. Go to "Settings" > "Accessibility"
  4. Mark the check box associated with "Dim screen during page loading"

  3. Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you wish to disable

Managing Applications

Disabling or Uninstalling Apps:

NOTE: by disabling or uninstalling applications that you don't use, you can increase your smartphone's battery life. This is due to the fact that certain applications can still run processes in the background and sync data, even when they are not running in the foreground.

  1. Go to the phone's "Settings" menu
  2. Tap "Apps"
  3. Access the "All" tab and select an app
