How-to: HTC One M8s: Manage Contacts & Caller Groups

Contact Management

Add a New Contact:

1. Tap "Apps" on the home screen
2. Launch "People" and access the "People" tab
3. Tap the "+" button and enter the contact's name in the proper field
4. Choose to save the contact on the "SIM", "Phone" or "Google" account
5. To change the phone number type, tap "Mobile" and select an option
6. Enter the contact's phone number in the "Phone" field
7. Add any extra information as you see fit and tap "Save" when ready

Add a Contact to Speed Dial:

1. Launch the "Phone" app
2. Tap the "Menu" icon and select "Speed dial"
3. Tap the "Add" button and choose a contact to add
4. Tap the button under "Number" and select the phone number to assign to speed dialing
5. Under "Location" tap the button and attribute a speed dial number
6. Tap "Save"

Delete a Contact:

1. From the home screen tap "Apps" and launch "People"
2. Access the "People" tab and press "Menu"
3. Tap "Delete contacts" and mark the contacts you want to remove
4. Tap "Delete"

Import / Export Contacts

Import Contacts from the SIM:

1. Launch the "People" app
2. From the "People" tab, press "Menu" > "Manage contacts"
3. Tap "Import / Export contacts"
4. Tap "Import from SIM card"
5. Select the desired account type to import the contacts on
6. Mark the check boxes next to the contacts you want to import
7. Tap "Save"

Export Contacts to the SIM:

1. Launch "People"
2. From the "People" tab, press "Menu"
3. Tap "Manage contacts" > "Import / Export contacts"
4. Tap "Export to SIM card"
5. Mark the contacts you want to export
6. Tap "Save"

Import Contacts from the SD:

1. From the "People" app, go to the "People" tab
2. Press "Menu" > "Manage contacts" > "Import / Export contacts"
3. Tap "Import from SD card"
4. Select an account if necessary
5. Choose the backup file you wish to import and tap "OK"
6. If the backup file is protected, enter the password and press "OK"

Export Contacts to the SD Card:

1. Go to the "People" tab in the app with the same name
2. Press "Menu" > "Manage contacts" > "Import / Export contacts"
3. Tap "Export to SD card"
4. Select an account and tap "Yes" if you wish to set a password for the backup file
5. Tap "OK"

Import Contacts from Storage:

1. Launch "People"
2. Tap "Menu" under the "People" tab
3. Tap "Manage contacts" > "Import / Export contacts"
4. Tap "Import from phone storage"
5. Select an account, choose the desired vCard file and tap "OK"

Export Contacts to Storage:

1. Open the "People" app
2. From the "People" tab, press "Menu" > "Manage contacts"
3. Tap "Import /Export contacts" > "Export to storage"
4. Choose "SIM", "Phone" or "Google"
5. Tap "OK" when the "Confirm export" pop-up appears

Caller Group Management

Create a Group:

1. Open "People"
2. From the "Groups" tab, press "+"
3. Enter the desired name for the group and tap "Save"

Add a Contact to an Existing Group:

1. Open "People" and access the "Groups" tab
2. Press "+" and mark the contacts you wish to add
3. Tap "Save" when ready

Edit a Group:

1. Launch "People" and go to "Groups"
2. Tap "Edit group"
3. Select the group you wish to edit
4. To add contacts to the group, tap "Menu" > "Add contact to group"
5. To rearrange group members, drag the three-bar icon associated with them
6. To remove a member check its box and tap "Save"
