Back Up to Google Drive:
- Go to the “Settings” menu
- Tap “Backup & reset” > “Backup account”
- Select “HTC account” and sign in with your account if necessary (alternatively you can use a Google or Facebook account)
- In the “Cloud Storage” menu, tap “Google Drive”
- Tap “OK” and register your Google account to access Drive
- Tap “Back up now”
- Optionally, enable “Automatic backup”
NOTE: You can also allow daily auto-backups over Wi-Fi. To do this, go to “Settings” > “Back up phone daily over Wi-Fi”.
Restore Data from Google Drive:
- After you turn on your phone for the first time (or after a fresh factory reset) you will be prompted to “Restore from HTC Backup”
- Select the option and sign in with the account used for the backup
- Access the history menu and select the desired backup
- Tap “Next”, and if necessary, sign in with your Google account
- Allow Drive to connect and wait for the files to restore
- Once done, tap “Next”
Crete and Restore Local Backups
Back Up Contacts on the SD Card / Storage:
- Tap “Phone” and go to the “Phone” tab
- Tap “Menu” > “Manage contacts”
- Tap “Import / Export contacts”
- Select to “Export to SD card” or “Export to phone storage”
- Choose an account
- Optionally, tap “Yes” to set a password for the backup file
- Tap “OK”
Restore Contacts from SD Card / Storage:
- Open “People”
- Tap “Menu” > “Manage Contacts”
- Tap “Import / Export contacts” and select to “Import from storage” or “Import from SD”
- Select an account if necessary
- Select the desired backup and tap “OK”
- If the backup file is protected by a password, enter it and tap “OK”
Back Up Messages:
- Open “Messages” and tap “Menu”
- Tap “Backup / Restore SMS”
- Tap “Back up” > “Back up SMS”
- Optionally, set a password for the backup file
- Enter the file’s name and tap “OK” to confirm
Back Up Messages via Email:
- Open “Messages”
- Tap “Menu” > “Back up / Restore SMS”
- Tap “Back up”
- Select “Back up SMS via email”
- Choose if you want to set a password for the file
- Send the email with the attached file to your own address
NOTE: To restore messages, download the vCard attached to the email and import it using “Messages”.
Back Up / Restore Tasks:
- Open “Tasks”
- Tap “Menu” > “Import / Export”
- Tap “Export to SD card”
- To restore tasks, open “Tasks”
- Tap “Menu” > “Import / Export"
- Select “Import from SD card”
Back Up Dictionaries:
- Access the “Settings” menu
- Scroll to and tap “Language & Keyboard”
- Tap “HTC Sense input” and select “Personal dictionary”
- Tap “Menu”
- Select to “Back up to storage” or “Back up to email”
- Press “OK”
