    Re: New DASH..Anyone have one?

I have owned a Blackberry 7105t and a HP iPaq H6315 that ran windows mobile. While the Dash doesn't have touch screen capability like the iPaq, I definately like it better than the Blackberry I had. The dash is faster than the iPaq and gets better signal than both of them where I used to not get a signal.

Overall, The Dash is a great phone. Of course there are always going to be things about every phone that everyone is not going to like. But, I have no complaints about the Dash. I Love it.

I have a friend who got one and I played with it a little the other day. The two coolest things about it were the black grip material the thing is covered in. Feels great in your hand. The screen is very nice too. I did not like a lot of other things about it. It looks kind of cheap to me and I question whether Blackberry won't be too much competition for it.

    Just one man's opinion.

Just because it looks cheap, don't let that fool you. I does everything my expensive iPaq did other than have the touch screen. I just don't like the trouble you have to go through with Blackberry with ringtones and pics by have to use the Blackberry Enterprise server. Having a phone like the Dash just makes things so much easier. And I also get a better signal in certain places than I did with the Blackberry.

I'll take another look at both but the Pearl looks a lot classier. I don't think the Dash is selling that well.

Like I said before, looks arent's everything. I've let looks be my choice in the past and that has usually caused disappointment. I know the pearl is different than the other blackberrys but I had and mu girlfriend still has her blackberry and I don't have to go through nearly as much trouble with installations, internet, and everything as I did with the iPaq and the Dash. I've had phones from every manufacturer and I have just never been impressed with blackberrys.

I'm still doing my research on the Blackberry and the jury is still out on the Pearl in my mind.

With regard to the Dash, is you look around and read the chats on the Net you find a lot of complaints that there are a lot of glitches in the Dash, that there is a high return rate of people bringing theirs back to return it because they are not happy with it and that sales of it aren't very exciting.

It's an electronic device built by humans. If you think for a minute that you are going to get a phone without any problems, you are highly mistaken. I've had problems from every single electronic device that I've ever owned. I haven't had a problem with my Dash yet, but i'm sure I will. I had problems with the iPaq, my blackberry 7105, my 7290, my nokia, and my motorola. My girlfriend has had problems with her 7290. Can't go by what problems others are having. You'll find problems in all phones.

But, it's up to you to decide which one you like best. For some, it's blackberry, some it's motorola, could be anything. But, I hope you get whatever you like.

    Re: New DASH..Anyone have one?

Dash is excellent if you wish to view/edit MS Office files, have certain Windows programs or necessities that can be accomplished with a PocketPC OS. And thats really the thing you have to look at when deciding between a Pearl or Dash, for example. Blackberry is great for emails and internet browsing, much like the Dash, but i feel the Pearl does emails waaaay better, and thats the selling point for me. So here is my suggestion
Dash - for windows people, applications, files, to view and edit, and for multiple 3rd party programs to further extend your phone into your Windows Operating System on your pc.
Blackberry - for emails, simple OS that doesn't crash or slow down as much as most(which is susceptible on a Dash, since its Windows Mobile), and multiple 3rd party programs that can extend your BB to do a bit more, but still not to an extent like a Dash, since its much more customizable.

So, the qusetion is, what do you need the phone for? Then, it should be easier for you to decide.

    Hope this helps,

    Re: New DASH..Anyone have one?

I’ve had mine for a little over a month now. And can say it’s not that bad of a phone. A few things could be better or easier to get to. The OS could be a little faster. I’ve had it lock up so bad that I had to take the battery out to get it to restart. I’ve called Tmobile about it and they say that it’s not something that can be fixed, and I can’t get a new phone because it’s past the 14 days. And now yesterday out of the blue the LCD screen has cracked and I have no idea how it has happened. It has never been dropped; the phone does not even have a scratch on it. So now im looking at a different phone.

Good comments. I've got my Moto Razr fully modded and tricked out. Probably will keep it for a few more months. Leaning towards going to the Pearl but want to see how the 8800 looks and works. I'm not hearing good things about the Dash. Hearing that it has a lot of glitches and that a lot of people are returning it to their TMo store.
