I currently have a samsung trace with a $5.99 t-mobile web plan. I am planning on upgrading to a t-mobile wing. Does anyone know if I can get the "real internet" like the one on my desktop and laptop on a Wing.

Yes you can. I believe, in my personal opinion, that the wing is right now the closest thing t-mobile has to the "i-phone". You will pay more however for internet access than the 5.99 you currently pay. I do believe it is like 29.99 for the service. I want this phone also, but that jump from 5.99 to 29.99 just doesn't fly with me!

I got a Wing about a month ago after losing my Dash in a auto accident and it now resides at the bottom of a canal. I used the 5.99 plan up until Saturday when I mistakenly changed some of the settings around. If you do a little searching around the net, there are quite a few places that list the settings to change your phone to to make it work. But the 29.99 is way better to fully utilize the internet on the phone like it's supposed to.

Now if we could just figure out how to get rid of some of the overhead of the darn system and get it to work a bit faster due to a bit more free memory and stop giving us errors that there is not enough memory to operate the camera I would be happy.

    Re: T-Mobile Wing

I started thinking, maybe I should delete the programs that I don't use at all. Programs such as word, and excel would be a start, but I am unsure if it will make the rest of the system unstable. I bet that would give the system some more room to play with as a start. Maybe the removal of other executables as well may help, such as MyFaves. In Essence just trim down the whole system to a Lite version on WM6Pro.

BTW, does anyone know where the backup factory restore file is located on the phone? Maybe it is as simple as removing those items from that CAB file and changing a few ini files to make it work, then we just upload it via cable to the phone as if we were applying a software upgrade. I would love to kill the bloat ware of the system. If we own the phone, and own the CABs then modding them to trim them down can not be seen as anything more than that.

The actual files that create the Factory Restore are not accessible once the restore is done. The files that control the customization of the phone from WM6Pro to "Wing" are also protected by the OS and cannot be read or written to externally that I know of. Something to search on though.

The main downside to the wing is the fact that it lacks RAM, not storage memory. With nothing running on a clean boot, it only has about 11M of program memory available in many cases. The IM client refuses to actually ever close and the IM client and Camera cannot run at the same time. So the phone needs a soft reset to use the camera after the IM client has been used.

Oh man, and I was wondering about that too. I'll remember to do some more restarts, but even still, I have problems getting the camera to come due to memory.

Can't we just get a copy of WM6Pro or MUST we be force fed the bloatware?

Unless you manage to make a proper install CAB to un-install a bunch of stuff (Requires some serious knowledge of the internal system and how to create the install XML properly), you're pretty much stuck. The thing to consider is that extra STORAGE SPACE is cheap (MicroSD), however extra PROGRAM MEMORY is impossible to get. That's what we need to find a solution for.

    Re: T-Mobile Wing... selling mine!

I'm selling my WING for $125 as I'm sick of losing my stylus all the time and no one locally sells them anywhere. They all say I have to order it online. Sheesh, it would cost more to ship it than the stylus itself. I've check 5 local T-Mobile Stores and places like Best Buy to no avail.

Goodbye Wing!!! I got a Blackjack II now.
