HTC DROID ERIS - Android Widgets won't shut down

Hi - I'm new here - anyway I just purchased the Droid Eris and I can't turn off an widget - like a game, or last fm or anything - it just stays open until I turn off the phone - seems like a battery waster for me - is there not an off button for these things? Am I missing somthing?

Long click on the widget and then move it to the bottom of your screen (little trash can icon) to disable it... other than that I do not think there is a way to stop a widget.

I understand how important it is for your device to function properly. The Android operating system does not close programs, it continues to run them in the background which allows quicker access when you toggle between applications. There are 3rd party solutions available through the marketplace which give you a task manager type interface. I would recommend searching for such keywords as 'task manager' or 'application manager'. HTC does not endorse or support 3rd party application, including Android Marketplace.

advanced task killer free is very good the verizon sales person downloaded it for me when i bought mine.
