    There are several methods to back up your most important information on your HTC One and it’s really important to use a backup method prior to hard resetting the smartphone, upgrading to a new device or erasing the storage.

    This tutorial will teach you how to back up your files using HTC Backup. This program performs a regular backup to the cloud, so you’ll be able to easily restore your most important information whenever you need to. Using your Dropbox strogage, HTC Backup will help you keep your content safe.

    Backing Up HTC One

    1. Drag the Notifications panel down.
    2. Then tap the Settings icon -> tap Backup & reset.
    3. Then turn the Backup On/Off switch to On.
    4. Select HTC Account as the backup account and sign in. Alternatively, you can use Facebook to sign in.
    5. Then sign in to Dropbox in case you haven’t signed in there already.

    Note: If you device to use HTC Backup, then the backup of your settings to the Google servers will be disabled.
    Note 2: In case you’re already signed in with the Google Account, you need to tap and change the backup account to your HTC Account.


    Your HTC One will then back up. Once it has finished backing up you can check the backup date and time if you go to Backup history.

    Restoring Content to Your HTC One

    If you backed up your files using HTC Backup, you can restore the content after a master reset or even restore it to a new HTC smartphone using a Wi-Fi connection.

    1. Turn on your smartphone -> select to restore content -> then from the Set up phone screen, select to Restore from HTC Backup.
    2. Sign in using Facebook or HTC Account (depending on the account you used to back up your smartphone).
    3. Then sign in to your Dropbox account -> select to allow HTC Backup to access Dropbox. The backup history will be displayed there.
    4. Select the desired backup -> tap Next.
    5. You’ll then have to wait for your settings and accounts to be restored.
    6. To continue restoring the previously installed apps, tap OK.


    Backing Up Your Text Messages

    1. From the Home screen, open the Messages app.
    2. Then tap the More options icon -> select Back up/Restore SMS -> tap Back up -> select Back up SMS.
    3. Name your Backup file -> then tap OK.


    Restoring your Text Messages

    1. Open the Messages app.
    2. Then tap the More options icon -> select Back up/Restore SMS -> select Restore.
    3. Select how you’d like to restore the messages -> tap Next -> then tap the backup file to import -> tap OK.


    Backing Up Your Contacts

    1. Open the People app.
    2. Then from the People tab, tap the More options icon and select Manage contacts.
    3. Then tap Import/Export -> select Export to phone storage.
    4. Select the desired account type where you’d like to export your contacts -> tap OK.


    Restoring Contacts

    1. Open the People app.
    2. Then from the People tab, tap the More options icon -> tap Manage contacts.
    3. Then tap Import/Export contacts -> select Import from phone storage.
    4. In case you have more than one account set up, select the desired one.
