VPN (Virtual Private Network) Management
Adding a VPN Connection:
Note: before being able to set up VPN, you will first need to set a lock screen PIN or password
- Open the Notifications panel
- Tap "Settings"
- Under "Wireless & Networks", press "More"
- Tap "VPN" and then select "Add VPN network"
- Enter the VPN settings according to the security details provided by the network administrator
- Tap "Save"
Connecting to a VPN:
- Open the Notifications panel and tap "Settings"
- Press "More" under "Wireless & Networks"
- Tap "VPN"
- Select the "VPN" that you wish to connect to
- Enter the log in credentials, then tap "Connect"
Disconnecting from a VPN:
- Open the Notifications panel
- Tap the "VPN" connection to go to the VPN settings screen
- Tap the "VPN connection" to disconnect from it
Data Connection Management
Enabling / Disabling Data Connection:
- Open the Notifications panel
- Tap "Settings"
- Tap the "Mobile Network On/Off" switch to enable or disable data connection
Checking the Data Connection You're Using:
- 1 In the Notifications panel, tap "Settings"
- 2 Tap "Mobile network"
- 3 Press "Network operators" or "Access Point Names"
Adding a New Access Point:
- In the Notifications panel, tap "Settings"
- Tap "Mobile network" > "Access Point Names"
- Tap the "menu" icon on the APNs screen, then tap "New APN"
- Go to the "Edit access point" screen, and enter the APN settings. To edit an APN setting, tap it
- Once the changes are done, tap "menu" and press "Save"
Keeping Track of Data Usage:
- Open the Notifications panel and tap "Settings"
- Tap "More" under "Wireless & Networks"
- Tap "Usage"
- In the "Mobile" tab, tap "Limit mobile data usage" to automatically disable data connection when the device reaches a set limit
- To set a limit, drag the "LIMIT" line and set it as you desire
- Drag the "ALERT" line in the desired location
- Tap "Reset data usage" and set the day on which the usage graph will be reset on a monthly basis
Note: the phone's method of measuring data usage may differ from the one used by the carrier, so it's strongly recommended that you set a limit that is a bit lower than your actual data allowance.
Viewing the Data Usage of Apps:
To monitor which apps use more data:
- Open the Notifications panel > "Settings"
- Under "Wireless & Networks", press "More"
- Tap "Usage"
- Scroll down to see the list of apps and their data usage. Tap an app to see more details
