Connecting a Bluetooth Device:

  1. Open the notification panel by swiping down from the top of the screen
  2. Press the "Settings" icon depicted as a cog / gear
  3. If necessary, tap the "On/Off" switch associated with Bluetooth in order to enable this feature
  4. Tap "Bluetooth" (the text itself, not the switch)
  5. A list of Bluetooth devices should appear in a list. If you can't find the preferred device, tap the "Menu" button depicting three vertical dots, and tap "Scan" to refresh the list
  6. In the list of devices, tap the one that you wish to connect to. If necessary, enter the passcode of the device (by default, most Bluetooth devices have the passcode "0000" or "1234"

Reconnecting to a Bluetooth Device:

  1. Open the notification panel and tap the "Settings" icon
  2. Enable Bluetooth if necessary, by tapping the "On/Off" switch
  3. Tap "Bluetooth"
  4. In the "Paired Devices" section, tap the name of the device you wish to connect
  5. If prompted for a passcode, type in "0000" or "1234". If none of the passcodes work, consult your Bluetooth device's documentation

Unpairing From a Bluetooth Device:

  1. With the notifications panel open, tap the "Settings" icon
  2. Make sure that Bluetooth is enabled, and tap "Bluetooth" (the text itself)
  3. In the list of "Paired devices", tap the "settings" icon associated with the device that you wish to unpair
  4. Tap "Unpair"

Receiving Files via Bluetooth:

  1. Open the notifications panel and tap "Settings"
  2. Enable Bluetooth if necessary, and tap "Bluetooth"
  3. Tap the name of your device to make your handset visible to other nearby Bluetooth devices
  4. On the sending device, send the files towards your HTC Desire 500
  5. If prompted, accept the pairing request both on your handset, and the sending device. Provide the passcode if necessary
  6. Tap "Pair"
  7. Once the files reach your handset and you receive a notification, open the "Notifications" panel > tap the incoming file notification > "Accept"
  8. Once the transfer is finished, a new notification will be displayed

Note: Once you open the received file, the actions that follow depend on the type of file you have opened. Media files and documents are usually opened with the compatible apps. For instance, an audio file will open with the "Music" app.

For vCalendar files, select the calendar where you wish to save the event and then tap "Import". For vCard contact files, select to import one, more or all of the contacts

Where Is The Sent Information Saved?

If you're using Bluetooth to send files to your computer, keep in mind that by default, the files are saved in the following location:

  • In Windows XP, the default path is: C:\Documents and Settings \[your username]\My Documents\Bluetooth Exchange

  • In Windows Vista, the default location is: C:\Users\[your username]\Documents

  • In Windows 7, the default path is: C:\Users\[your username]\Documents\Bluetooth Exchange Folder

  • In Windows 8: C:\Users\[your username]\Documents
