    Changing Display Settings

    Lowering the Screen Brightness:

    1. While viewing the home screen, drag the status bar down using two fingers
    2. Tap "Settings"
    3. Tap "Display, gesture & buttons" under "Phone"
    4. Select "Brightness" and disable "Automatic brightness"
    5. Drag the slider to the left and set the screen brightness to a lower level

    Decreasing the Screen Timeout Duration:

    1. Using two fingers, drag the "Status" bar down
    2. Tap "Settings" > "Display, gestures & buttons"
    3. Tap "Sleep" and select a lower value, like "15 seconds"

    Disabling a Live Wallpaper:

    Live wallpapers can impact the battery life pretty hard, especially those that are graphically intensive. It's a good idea to disable your live wallpaper and use a static picture instead.

    1. Open the notification area using two fingers
    2. Tap "Settings"
    3. Scroll to "Personal" and tap "Personalize"
    4. Select "Wallpaper" and choose between "Gallery" or "HTC wallpapers"
    5. Select the desired picture, and if necessary, crop / drag / resize it
    6. Tap "Done" or "Accept"

    Disabling Haptic Feedback and Touch Sounds:

    1. Access the "Settings" menu
    2. Swipe to "phone" and tap "Sound"
    3. Clear the check boxes next to "Touch sounds", "Vibrate" and "Vibrate on touch"

    Setting the Web Browser so that it Dims the Screen When Loading Pages:

    1. Open the HTC Internet application
    2. Tap the "menu" icon representing three vertical dots
    3. Press "Settings" and tap "Accessibility"
    4. Tap the check box next to "Dim screen during page loading" to enable the feature

    Connection Management

    Connectivity features are usually very battery dependent, and it's always a good idea to disable these features when they're not in use.

    Disabling Wi-Fi and Bluetooth:

    1. While on the home screen, use two fingers to drag the "Status" bar down
    2. Tap the tiles associated with "Wi-Fi" and "Bluetooth" to disable them

    Enabling Sleep Mode:

    If enabled, Sleep mode will automatically disable all data connections on your device after a period of time of inactivity. This way, you can save battery life on the long run, but keep in mind that there will be no data usage or any network activity until the next time you turn on your smartphone's screen.

    1. Swipe the "Status" bar down with two fingers

    3. Tap "Power" under "Phone"
    4. Tap "Sleep mode" to enable the feature

    Disabling GPS:

    GPS is probably one of the most battery consuming connectivity features in a smartphone, so it's always advised to disable it when not in use.

    1. Open the status bar using two fingers, and tap "Settings"
    2. Tap "Locations"
    3. Clear the check box next to "Location sources"

    Managing Background Data and Sync Options

    Disabling Data Sync:

    1. Drag the "Status" bar down with two fingers
    2. Tap "Settings" > "Accounts & sync"
    3. Clear the sync options that you wish to disable

    Modifying the Sync Time for Email Accounts:

    1. Open the default "Mail" application
    2. Select the desired account and tap "menu" > "Settings" > "Sync, Send & receive"
    3. Under "Sync schedule" adjust the settings as you see fit

    Changing Weather Sync:

    You can change the way the weather sync works in order to increase battery life, especially if you're not traveling. Removing cities that you don't visit from the sync list can improve battery life.

    1. Open the "Weather" app
    2. Tap "Menu" and select "Edit"
    3. Remove the cities that you don't visit or are uninterested in learning about the weather

    Enabling Power Saver Mode and Managing Applications

    Power Saver Mode:

    The default Power Saver Mode is a great way to conserve battery life. It automatically under-clocks your processor, decreases screen brightness and adjust various features when enabled. This mode automatically turns on when the battery reaches the "yellow" level. However, you can customize how the mode works:

    1. Use two fingers to drag the status bar down
    2. Press the "" button next to the "Power Saver Mode" tile
    3. Clear or mark the check boxes associated with the features that you wish to disable
    4. To enable or disable Power Saver Mode, tap the "On / Off" switch associated with it

    Uninstalling / Disabling Applications:

    Uninstalling or disabling applications that you don't use can improve battery life, as these apps may still sync data and run processes in the background.

    1. Access the "Settings" menu
    2. Tap "Apps" and swipe to the "All" tab
    3. Choose an application and tap "Disable"
    4. To uninstall the application, you can open the apps drawer, locate the app, tap and hold it and then drag it on top of the "Uninstall" area

    Keeping Applications Updated:

    Lastly, you can increase battery life by updating your apps, as new updates may include battery life fixes / improvements. To do this:

    1. Open the "Play Store"
    2. Swipe to the "My apps" screen
    3. Go to the "Installed" tab and select "Update all", or update each app individually
