Using iTunes to Transfer Contacts:

iTunes is a very rich application that offers sync options for your iPhone. Using iTunes, a computer and an Internet connection, you can sync your iPhone contacts with a Google account. Synced contacts include their contact image, email, notes and any other type of information included within the contact.

  1. Open iTunes on your computer
  2. Use the proprietary USB cable to connect your iPhone to the computer
  3. After it connects, your iPhone will appear in Tunes. Click it and go to the "Info" tab
  4. Mark the check box next to "Sync Contacts With", and choose "Google Contacts" from the drop-down menu
  5. Type in your Google account's log in details. If you've already added an account, you can click "Configure" and select one from the list
  6. To begin the syncing process, click "Apply"
  7. On the HTC Desire L, register the same Google account and set it so that it can sync contacts with your device. (NOTE: if you need to add an account, go to "Settings" > "Accounts")

Using iCloud to Transfer Contacts:

The iCloud back up service can be used to transfer contacts, and as long as you've used the service on your iPhone before, then your contacts should already be backed up on your iCloud account. For this method, you need a computer with Internet access.

  1. Open the Internet browser on your computer and visit https://www.icloud.com/
  2. Log in with your iCloud account
  3. Go to "Contacts" and select the contacts that you wish to share
  4. Once selected, click the cog wheel button in the bottom-left are and select "Export vCard"
  5. A VCF file containing the contacts will be downloaded on your computer
  6. Import the file to Google Contacts. Alternatively skip this step and follow the next one instead:
  7. Connect your Desire L to your computer via USB, and copy the vCard file to the phone's "sdcard" directory. Then, open the "People" app, tap "Menu" and select to import contacts from the SD card. Choose an account if necessary, and load the previously transferred VCF file

Using "My Contacts Backup":

My Contacts Backup is an iOS application that allows you to transfer your iPhone contacts without need of a computer. The app can back up your contacts and share them with an Android device via email.

  1. Install "My Contacts Backup" on your iPhone, from the App Store
  2. Open the application and tap "Backup". This will create a VCF file containing all of your iPhone's contacts
  3. Tap "Email" to attach the VCF file to an email
  4. Enter your own Gmail address as the recipient, and send the email
  5. On the HTC Desire L, open the email and download the VCF file
  6. Import the vCard file's contents through the "People" application, by using the "Import from SD" option

Using "Send Anywhere" to Transfer Contacts:

Last but not least, you can use "Send Anywhere" in order to transfer your contacts without accessing a computer. This is an iOS and Android application that can transfer contacts and various other file types through a peer-2-peer connection.

  1. Launch the App Store and download "Send Anywhere" on your iPhone
  2. From the Play Store, download the application on the HTC Desire L
  3. Launch the app on both devices
  4. On the iPhone, tap "Send" > "Contacts"
  5. Select the contacts that you want to send over to the Desire L
  6. Tap "Send" and choose a transfer method. Selecting "Generate QR Code" allows you to begin the transfer by scanning the generated code with the Desire L's camera. Also, tapping "Receive" on the Desire L allows you to enter the transfer code generated on the iPhone
