Using iTunes:

You can use iTunes to sync the contacts stored on your iPhone with your Google account. Once that's done, you can then re-sync the contacts from your account with your Android smartphone; the HTC Desire 510. For this method you need a computer with access to the Internet and iTunes installed

  1. Open iTunes on the computer
  2. Use the proprietary USB cable to connect the iPhone to your computer
  3. When the smartphone appears in iTunes, click it to reveal its summary page
  4. Access the "Info" tab and mark the "Sync Contacts With" check box
  5. From the drop-down menu, select "Google Contacts"
  6. Enter your Google account's log in details in iTunes. If your account was already added prior to finding this guide, you can click "Configure" and select an existing account
  7. Click "Apply" and iTunes will start syncing the contacts
  8. Once the process is done, register the same Google account on your Desire 510. (NOTE: to add an account, go to "Settings" > "Accounts")
  9. Allow the account to sync contacts with your Android smartphone

Using iCloud:

If you've used the iCloud service before, then your iPhone contacts should already be backed up on your iCloud account. You can sign in to your iCloud account using your computer's Internet browser, and you can export the backed up contacts in the form of a VCF file. This method requires access to a computer with Internet

  1. Open the Internet browser on your PC
  2. Visit https://www.icloud.com/ and sign in with your iCloud account
  3. Click "Contacts" and select the contacts you wish to export
  4. Click the cog-wheel icon in the lower-left area of the screen
  5. Click "Export vCard" and wait for the VCF file to be downloaded on your computer
  6. Once downloaded, import the file to "Google Contacts". Otherwise, connect the Desire 510 to your computer via USB, and transfer the vCard file to the smartphone's storage. Next, launch the "People" app, press "Menu" > "Import / Export" and follow any additional on-screen steps to import the vCard file

Using "My Contacts Backup":

If you're looking for methods of contact transfer that don't require access to a computer, then you can rely on third party apps to get the job done. My Contacts Backup is an iOS third party app that can back up your iPhone contacts in VCF format, and send the file via email.

  1. Visit the App Store and install "My Contacts Backup" on your iPhone
  2. Launch the application
  3. Tap "Backup" and this will create a backup file containing your contacts
  4. Once the file is created, tap "Email" to attach the file to a new email
  5. Send the email to your own Gmail address
  6. On the Desire 510, open the email and download the attached VCF file
  7. Open the "People" application and use the "Import / Export" function to import the VCF file to your phonebook

Using "Send Anywhere":

Another third party app that can be used for contact transfer is "Send Anywhere". This is an Android and iOS app that uses a P2P connection to transfer contacts, even cross-platform. To use this app:

  1. Go to the Google Play Store and install "Send Anywhere" on your Desire 510
  2. From the App Store, install the app on your iPhone too
  3. Launch the application on both handsets
  4. On the iPhone, tap "Send" > "Contacts"
  5. Mark the contacts you wish to send and tap "Send"
  6. Select a transfer method. You can tap "Generate QR Code" on the iPhone, and scan the code with the Desire 510's camera to commence the transfer. Optionally, tap "Receive" on the Desire 510 and enter the randomly generated transfer code from the iPhone
