Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Access “Settings” and swipe to “Phone”
  3. Tap “Power” > “Power saver”
  4. To customize how the Power saver mode works, clear / check the boxes associated with “CPU power”, “Display”, “Vibration” etc.
  5. After customizing Power saver, tap the switch to turn the feature “ON”

Disable Background Data & Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: Setting your phone to sync less data or less often can improve battery performance on the long run

  1. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Accounts & sync”
  3. Select an application and tap the account name to disable background sync
  4. Return to “Accounts & sync” and select an account to change sync settings. NOTE: settings will vary from one account type to another

Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Some third party apps can affect your phone’s battery performance even if you don’t use them, assuming they run regular processes in the background. Thus you can improve battery life by disabling or removing unused / rarely-used third party apps.

  1. From the phone’s “Settings” screen, scroll to “Phone”
  2. Tap “Apps”
  3. Swipe to the “Downloaded” tab and select the desired application
  4. Tap “Disable” / “Force stop”, or to complete remove it, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”

Adjust the Screen Brightness & Timeout Duration:

  1. From the phone’s “Settings” menu, swipe to “Phone”
  2. Tap “Display & Gestures”
  3. Tap “Brightness level” and clear the “Automatic brightness” option if necessary
  4. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side to decrease it
  5. Go back to “Display & gestures”
  6. Tap “Screen timeout” and select a lower value like “15 seconds”

Disable Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot:

NOTE: To improve battery life on the long run you can disable connectivity features when they are not in use, including Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and Hotspot.

  1. From the home screen tap “Apps”
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Tap the “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” switches to turn these features off
  4. From the “Settings” menu, tap “More” > “Mobile network sharing”
  5. Turn off the “Mobile Hotspot” switch
  6. Return to “Settings” and under “Personal”, tap “Location”
  7. Tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving”

Use 2G over 4G:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Tap “Mobile data” > “Network Mode"
  4. Select “GSM only”

Update the OS:

NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life, so you should keep your phone up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Under “Phone”, tap “About”
  3. Tap “Software information”
  4. Check if a new OS version if available and if necessary, follow the on-screen steps to download and install it on your device
