Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Access “Settings
  3. Swipe to “Phone” and tap “Power
  4. Tap “Power saver
  5. You can customize how the Power saver works by clearing / checking the “CPU power”, “Display”, “Vibration” options etc.
  6. When ready, tap the switch and turn “ON” the feature

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Under “Phone”, tap “Display & Gestures
  3. Tap “Brightness level
  4. Clear the “Automatic brightness” option and drag the brightness slider to the left
  5. Return to “Display & Gestures” and tap “Screen timeout
  6. Select a lower value, such as “15 seconds

Disable Background Data and Adjust Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by syncing less data.

  1. From the “Settings” menu, tap “Accounts & sync
  2. Choose an app and tap the account name to disable background sync
  3. Go back to “Accounts & Sync” and choose an account
  4. You can adjust your sync settings for the selected account to sync less data. Settings will differ depending on the account type

Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: Certain third party apps can have an effect on your phone’s battery life even if you don’t use them – assuming they run regular processes in the background. As such, disabling or removing unused third party apps can improve battery autonomy.

  1. Access the “Settings” menu
  2. Swipe to “Phone” and tap “Apps
  3. Swipe to “Downloaded
  4. Select the desired app and tap “Disable” / “Force stop
  5. Alternatively, to completely remove the app tap “Uninstall” > “OK

Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth:

NOTE: You can also improve battery life by disabling your phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use. This includes Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen and access “Settings
  2. Tap the switches next to “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” to disable these features
  3. Tap “More” > “Mobile network sharing
  4. Disable “Mobile Hotspot” and return to “Settings
  5. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Location” (GPS)
  6. Tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving

Keep the OS Up to Date:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, so make sure you stay up to date. To check for newer updates:

  1. Access “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Phone” and tap “About
  3. Tap “Software information” and check if a new version is available
  4. If so, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the update
