Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Access “Settings”
- Swipe to “Phone” and tap “Power”
- Tap “Power saver”
- You can customize how the Power saver works by clearing / checking the “CPU power”, “Display”, “Vibration” options etc.
- When ready, tap the switch and turn “ON” the feature
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
- Under “Phone”, tap “Display & Gestures”
- Tap “Brightness level”
- Clear the “Automatic brightness” option and drag the brightness slider to the left
- Return to “Display & Gestures” and tap “Screen timeout”
- Select a lower value, such as “15 seconds”
Disable Background Data and Adjust Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by syncing less data.
- From the “Settings” menu, tap “Accounts & sync”
- Choose an app and tap the account name to disable background sync
- Go back to “Accounts & Sync” and choose an account
- You can adjust your sync settings for the selected account to sync less data. Settings will differ depending on the account type
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Certain third party apps can have an effect on your phone’s battery life even if you don’t use them – assuming they run regular processes in the background. As such, disabling or removing unused third party apps can improve battery autonomy.
- Access the “Settings” menu
- Swipe to “Phone” and tap “Apps”
- Swipe to “Downloaded”
- Select the desired app and tap “Disable” / “Force stop”
- Alternatively, to completely remove the app tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth:
NOTE: You can also improve battery life by disabling your phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use. This includes Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth.
- Tap “Apps” on the home screen and access “Settings”
- Tap the switches next to “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” to disable these features
- Tap “More” > “Mobile network sharing”
- Disable “Mobile Hotspot” and return to “Settings”
- Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Location” (GPS)
- Tap “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
Keep the OS Up to Date:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, so make sure you stay up to date. To check for newer updates:
- Access “Settings”
- Scroll to “Phone” and tap “About”
- Tap “Software information” and check if a new version is available
- If so, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the update
