Clear an App’s Cache / Data:
NOTE: If one of your applications doesn’t work as it should, you might be able to fix these problems by clearing the app’s cache, or data.
WARNING! Clearing an app’s data will delete all personal information stored within the app, including profiles, saved games, high scores, login and credit card information, settings etc. As such you should first try fixing the problems by clearing only the cache.
- Open the apps drawer
- Access “Settings”
- Under “Phone”, tap “Apps”
- Swipe to “All” and select the desired application
- Tap “Clear cache”
- If clearing the cache didn’t solve the problem, tap “Clear data” > “OK”
Reboot in Safe Mode to Remove an App:
NOTE: In case you’ve installed a third party app that prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall it from Safe Mode. When you reboot your phone in Safe Mode all third party apps will be disabled.
- With the handset turned on, press and hold “Power”
- Tap and hold the “Power off” pop-up
- At the “Reboot to safe mode” prompt tap “Restart”
- Once the phone reboots, a “Safe Mode” label will be shown in the lower-left area of the screen
- Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
- Swipe to “Phone” and tap “Apps”
- Swipe to “Downloaded” and select the app you want to remove
- Tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
- To exit safe mode, press “Power” and reboot your device as you would do normally
Clear the Cache Partition:
NOTE: When wiping the cache you can solve various issues with your phone. It can have similar results as a factory reset, with the benefit that none of your personal data stored on the internal memory will be lost.
- Turn off the phone
- Press and hold “Volume Down”
- Press and release” Power”
- Once you see a black screen with red and blue lines of text, release “Volume Down”
- From the menu, press “Volume Down” repeatedly to highlight “Reboot to bootloader”
- Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
- Use the volume rocker to navigate to, and highlight “Boot to Recovery Mode”
- Press “Power” to select the option
- Press “Volume Down” until you highlight “Wipe cache partition”
- Press “Power” to select the option
- Once the cache partition is wiped, “Reboot system now” should be highlighted
- Press “Power”
