Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Access “Settings”
- Swipe to “Phone” and tap “Power” > “Power saver”
- You can customize Power Saver mode by clearing / checking the boxes associated with “Display”, “Vibration”, “CPU power” etc.
- When ready, tap the switch to turn the feature on
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Go to the phone’s “Settings” menu
- Swipe to “Phone” and tap “Display & Gestures”
- Tap “Brightness level”
- If necessary, disable “Automatic brightness”
- Drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease luminosity
- Return to “Display & Gestures” and tap “Screen timeout”
- Select a lower value such as “15 seconds”
Disable Background Data and Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by setting your phone to sync less data.
- Go to “Settings”
- Tap “Accounts & sync”
- Select an application
- To disable background sync, tap your account name
- Go back to “Accounts & sync” and select an account to change its sync settings
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Some third party applications can affect your phone’s battery performance even when you don’t use them – assuming that the apps run regular processes in the background. Thus you might be able to improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third party apps.
- One the home screen, tap “Apps”
- Access “Settings”
- Under “Phone”, tap “Apps”
- Swipe to “Downloaded” and select the desired application
- Tap “Disable” / “Force stop” to turn off the app
- To completely remove the application, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by disabling the phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth.
- Open the apps drawer and access “Settings”
- Tap the switches next to “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” to disable these features
- In the “Settings” menu, tap “More” under “Networks”
- Tap “Mobile network sharing” and disable “Mobile Hotspot”
- Go back to “Settings” and under “Personal”, tap “Location”
- Tap “Mode” > “Battery saving”
Use 2G instead of 4G:
- Open the “Settings” menu
- Tap “Mobile data”
- Tap “Network mode” and select “GSM only”
Keep Your OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can sometimes improve your battery life, so it’s recommended to keep your phone up to date at all times. To check for new updates:
- Access the “Settings” menu
- Swipe to “Phone” and tap “About”
- Tap “Software information”
- Verify the software version and if available, download and follow the on-screen steps to apply the newer update
