Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to “Settings”
- Tap “Power” under “Phone”
- Tap “Power saver”
- To customize “Power saver”, clear / check the boxes associated with “Display”, “CPU power”, “Vibration” etc.
- When ready, enable Power Saver by tapping the ON-OFF switch
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:
NOTE: By disabling your phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use, you can improve the phone’s battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to “Settings”
- Tap the “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” switches to disable these features
- From the “Settings” screen, tap “More” under “Networks”
- Tap “Mobile network sharing” and disable “Mobile Hotspot”
- From the “Settings” screen, scroll to “Personal”
- Tap “Location” > “Mode” > “Battery saving” to change the way GPS works
Lowering the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Go to “Settings”
- Under “Phone”, tap “Display & Gestures”
- Tap “Brightness level” and if necessary, disable “Automatic brightness”
- Drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease screen luminosity
- Return to “Display & Gestures”
- Tap “Screen timeout” and select a lower value (like “15 seconds”)
Disable Background Data and Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By setting your phone to sync less data, and by disabling background data, you can improve battery performance in the long run.
- Open the “Settings” menu
- Scroll to and tap “Accounts & sync”
- Select an app
- Tap your account name to disable background sync
- Return to “Accounts & Sync” and select an account to change the sync settings associated with it
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Certain third party applications can affect your phone’s battery performance even if you don’t use them – assuming that these apps run regular processes in the background. As such you might be able to improve battery life by removing or disabling unused third party apps.
- Tap “Apps” on the home screen
- Go to “Settings”
- Tap “Apps” under “Phone”
- Swipe to “Downloaded’ and choose an app
- Tap “Disable” / “Force stop” to disable the app
- To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
Switch to 2G:
- Launch the “Settings” menu
- Tap “Mobile data”
- Tap “Network mode”
- Select “GSM Only”
Keep the Firmware Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can improve your phone’s battery performance, so it’s recommended to keep your phone’s OS updated. To check for OS updates:
- Open “Settings”
- Under “Phone”, tap “About”
- Tap “Software information”
- Check the software version and whether a newer one is available. If it is, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it
