How-to: HTC Desire 520: Use HTC Sync Manager to Transfer / Sync Data

Install HTC Sync Manager on a Windows Computer:

1. Open the Internet browser on your computer
2. Visit HTC Sync Manager Overview | HTC United States and download HTC Sync Manager
3. Install HSM on your computer
4. Connect the Desire 520 to your computer via USB
5. Once connected, the Desire 520 should show up in HSM

Use HSM and iTunes to Transfer Data from an iPhone:

1. Connect the Desire 520 to your computer via USB
2. Launch HTC Sync Manager
3. Click “Home” > “Transfer & Backup” in HSM
4. Click “Get Started”
5. Connect the iPhone to your computer via USB
6. Launch iTunes on the computer, and use the app to back up the data on your iPhone
7. Click “OK” and select the content you want to transfer from the iPhone
8. Click “Start”

Use HTC Sync Manager to sync PC Data:

1. Connect the Desire 520 to your computer via USB
2. Open HTC Sync Manager and click “Home”
3. Switch between the external and internal storage
4. Click “Sync Settings” in HSM
5. Click “Files” > “Sync Settings”
6. Click “Sync documents from the following location on your computer”
7. Click “Add” and select the desired files to sync
8. Click “Refresh”

Use HSM to Export Files on Your Computer:

1. Establish a USB connection between the Desire 520 and computer
2. Open HTC Sync Manager
3. Click “Home” > “Sync Settings”
4. Select the phone’s internal or external storage
5. Click “Gallery” > “Settings” to export photos and videos
6. Click “Music” > “Settings” > “Copy all music from phone” to export audio files
7. Click “Refresh”

Sync Data and Playlists

NOTE: Using HTC Sync Manager, you can sync bookmarks, events, and other file types between your Desire 520 and computer. On a Windows PC, you can use HSM to sync data from Mozilla Firefox, Outlook 2003 or newer, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer. On a Mac computer, you can use HSM to sync data from Apple Calendar, Address Book, Google Chrome, Outlook 2011 for Mac, Contacts, and iCal.

Sync Data:

1. Connect the Desire 520 to your computer via USB
2. Open HSM on the computer
3. In HSM, click “Home” > “Sync Settings”
4. Click the boxes associated with the items you want to sync
5. You can change the sync settings by clicking “Settings”
6. Click “Refresh” to start the syncing process

Use HSM to Sync Windows Media Player or iTunes Playlists:

1. Use the USB cable to connect the Desire 520 to your computer
2. Open HSM and click “Home” > “Sync Settings”
3. Select the desired location to sync data
4. Click “Music” > “Settings” > “Sync selected playlist”
5. Select the desired playlist and click “Refresh”
