Back Up Data to Google Drive:
- Drag the “Status” bar down from the home screen
- Go to “Settings”
- Tap “Backup & reset” > “Backup account”
- Tap “HTC Account” and sign in with your account
- Tap “Google Drive” > “OK” in the “Cloud Storage” menu
- To gain access to Google Drive, sign in with your Google account
- Optionally, enable “Automatic backup”, and tap “Back up now” to back up data manually
NOTE: You can set your phone to create daily backups over Wi-Fi, by going to “Settings” and enabling “Backup phone daily over Wi-Fi”.
Restore Data from Google Drive:
- Sign in with your backup account (or tap “Restore from HTC Backup” after a factory reset)
- Go to the history screen and select the backup you want to restore
- Tap “Next”
- Sign in with your Google account if necessary
- Allow HTC Backup to connect to Google Drive
- Tap “Next” to restore the files
Back Up & Restore Data Locally
Back Up Contacts:
- Launch the “Phone” application
- Access the “People” tab
- Press “Menu” > “Manage contacts”
- Tap “Import / Export contacts”
- Tap “Export to SD card”
- Select “Export to SD card” or “Export to phone storage”
- Select an account to back up data on it
- Tap “Yes” to set a backup password
- Tap “OK” to confirm
Restore Contacts:
- Launch “Contacts”
- Press “Menu” > “Manage Contacts”
- Tap “Import / Export contacts”
- Select “Import from phone storage” or “SD card”
- Select an account if necessary, and choose the backup file
- Tap “OK”
- If the file is protected by a password, enter it and tap “OK”
Back Up Messages:
- Launch “Messages”
- Tap “Menu” > “Backup / Restore SMS”
- Tap “Back up” > “Back up SMS”
- Set a password for the backup file, if desire
- Enter a name for the backup file
- Tap “OK” to confirm
Back Up Text Messages via Email:
- Open “Messages”
- Tap “Menu” > “Back up / Restore SMS”
- Tap “Back up” > “Back up SMS via email”
- Optionally, set a password for the backup file
- Make sure the email contains the attached backup file and send it to your own address
NOTE: You can easily restore messages by downloading the attached file, and importing its contents via “Messages”
Back Up and Restore Tasks:
- Open “Tasks”
- Tap “Menu” > “Import / Export”
- Tap “Export to SD card”
- To restore tasks, open “Tasks” and press “menu”
- Tap “Import / Export” > “Import from SD card”
- Select the backup file and follow the on-screen steps to complete the restore
Back Up & Restore Your Dictionary:
- Go to “Settings”
- Tap “Language & Keyboard”
- Tap “HTC Sense Input” > “Personal dictionary”
- Tap “Menu” > “Back up to storage” > “Back up to email” > “OK”
- To restore your dictionary, go to “Languages & keyboard” and tap “HTC Sense Input”
- Tap “Personal dictionary” > “Menu” > “Restore from storage”
- Select the file and tap “OK”
