Back Up Your Phone to Google Drive:
- Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
- Open “Settings” and tap “Backup & reset”
- Tap “Backup account”
- Tap “HTC Account” and sign in with your HTC account, or use a Google or Facebook account
- From the “Cloud Storage” menu, tap “Google Drive” > “OK”
- Register your Google account to access Drive
- Optionally, turn on “Automatic update”
- To back up data manually, tap “Back up now”
NOTE: To set your device to create daily Wi-Fi backups, open “Settings” and tpa “Back up phone daily over Wi-Fi”
Restore Data from Google Drive:
- After you reboot your phone for the first time or after a factory reset, tap “Restore from HTC Backup”
- Sign in with the account you used for the backup
- Access the history menu and select the backup
- Tap “next”
- When / if prompted, register your Google account
- Allow HTC Backup to connect with “Google Drive”
- Tap “Next” to restore the files
Back Up & Restore Data Locally
Back Up Contacts:
- Tap “Phone” on the home screen
- Tap the “People” tab
- Press “Menu” > “Manage contacts”
- Tap “Import / Export contacts”
- Tap “Export to SD card”
- Select to “Export to SD card” or “Export to phone storage”
- Choose an account to use for the backup
- If necessary, set a password and tap “Yes”
- Tap “OK” to confirm
Restore Contacts:
- Open “People”
- Press “Menu” > “Manage Contacts”
- Tap “Import / Export contacts”
- Select to “Import contacts from phone storage” or SD if available
- If necessary, choose an account
- Select the desired backup file and tap “OK”
- In case the backup file is password-protected, enter the password and tap “OK”
Back Up Messages:
- Open “Messages”
- Tap “Menu” > “Backup / Restore SMS”
- Tap “Back up” > “Back up SMS”
- Optionally, set a password for the backup
- Enter the desired name for the file and tap “OK”
Back Up SMS via Email:
- Launch “Messages”
- Tap “Menu” > “Back up / Restore SMS”
- Tap “Back up” > “Back up SMS via email”
- Optionally you can set a password for the backup file
- Ensure that the email contains the backup file
- Send the email to your address
NOTE: To restore messages via email, open the email, download the attached file, and import it via “Messages”
Back Up / Restore Tasks:
- Launch “Tasks”
- Press “Menu” and tap “Import / Export”
- Tap “Export to SD Card”
- To restore tasks, open “Tasks”
- Press “Menu” > “Import / Export”
- Tap “Import from SD Card”
- Select the backup file and if necessary, follow the on-screen prompts
Back Up a Dictionary:
- Open the “Settings” menu
- Tap “Language & Keyboard”
- Tap “HTC Sense Input”
- Select “Personal dictionary”
- Tap “Menu” > “Back up to storage” (or optionally, “Back up to email”)
- Tap “OK”
Restore a Dictionary:
- Go to “Settings”
- Tap “Languages & Keyboard” > “HTC Sense Input”
- Tap “Personal dictionary”
- Tap “Menu” > “Restore from storage” > “OK”
