Enable Power Saver Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Access “Settings”
- Under “Personal”, tap “Power” > “Power saver”
- Tick the boxes associated with the battery saving features you want to be enabled during Power Saving Mode
- Tap the “Power saver” switch to enable
Decrease Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
- Swipe to “Phone” and tap “Display & Gestures”
- Tap “Brightness level” and, if necessary, turn off “Automatic brightness”
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen
- Go back to “Display & Gestures” and tap “Screen timeout”
- Select a lower value, such as “15 seconds”
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by disabling the phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use (Bluetooth, Hotspot, Wi-Fi, GPS).
- Tap “Apps” on the home screen
- Go to “Settings” and tap the “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” switches to disable these features
- Under “Wireless & networks”, tap “More”
- Tap “Mobile networks sharing” and turn off “Mobile hotspot”
- Go back to “Settings”, scroll to “Personal” and tap “Location”
- Tap “Mode” > “Battery saving”
Change Sync Settings and Disable Background Sync:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by setting your accounts / phone to sync less data, and by disabling background sync.
- Access the phone’s “Settings” menu
- Tap “Accounts & sync” and select an app to disable background sync
- For more sync options you can select an account
NOTE: Sync options will differ from one account type to another.
Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:
NOTE: Certain third party applications can affect your phone’s battery life even if you don’t use them; assuming that the apps perform regular background processes. As such, you can improve battery life in the long run by disabling or uninstalling unused third party applications.
- Open the apps drawer
- Access “Settings” and scroll to “Phone”
- Tap “Apps”
- Go to the “Downloaded” tab and select the desired app
- Tap “Disable” to turn off the application
- Alternatively, tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to remove the app from the phone
Switch from 4G to 2G:
- Open the phone’s “Settings” menu
- Tap “Mobile data”
- Tap “Network mode” and select “GSM only”
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can sometimes include battery life improvements, so it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date. You can check if new updates are available by following these steps:
- Access the “Settings” menu
- Under “Phone”, tap “About”
- Tap “Software information” > “Check now”
- In case an update is available, follow the on-screen steps to download and install it
