Back Up Data to Google Drive:
- Open the “Settings” menu
- Tap “Backup & reset”
- Tap “Backup account” and select “HTC account”
- If necessary, sign in with your account (alternatively you can use a Facebook or Google account)
- Tap “Google Drive” in the “Cloud Storage” menu
- Tap “OK” and gain access to Google Drive by registering your Google account
- Tap “Back up now”
- Optionally, turn on “Automatic backup”
NOTE: To enable daily auto-backups over Wi-Fi, go to “Settings” > “Back up phone daily over Wi-Fi”
Restore Data from Google Drive:
- After you turn on your device for the first time (or after a factory reset) tap to “Restore from HTC Backup”
- Sign in with the Google account containing the backup
- Go to the history menu, select the desired backup, and tap “Next”
- Sign in with your Google account and allow Drive to connect
- Wait for the phone to restore data and tap “next”
Back Up and Restore Data Locally
Back Up Contacts on the Storage / SD Card:
- Tap “Phone” on the home screen
- Access the “Phone” tab
- Tap “Menu” > “manage contacts” > “Import / Export contacts”
- Choose to “Export to SD card” or “Export to phone storage”
- Select an account, and tap “Yes” if you want to set a password for the backup file
- Tap “OK” to confirm
Restore Contacts from the Phone Storage / SD Card:
- Launch “Phone”
- Tap “Menu” > “Manage Contacts”
- Tap “Import / Export contacts”
- Select to “Import from SD” or “Import from storage”
- If necessary, select an account
- Tap the desired backup and press “OK”
- Assuming that the backup file is password-protected, enter the password and tap “OK” to proceed
Back Up Messages:
- Launch “Messages”
- Tap “Menu” > “Backup / Restore SMS”
- Tap “Back Up” > “Back up SMS”
- Optionally you can set a password for the backup
- Enter the desired name for the backup and tap “OK”
Back Up Messages via Email:
- Open “Messages” and tap “Menu”
- Tap “Back up / Restore SMS”
- Tap “Back up” > “Back up SMS via email”
- Optionally, set a password for the backup file
- Make sure the backup file is attached to the email, and send it to your own address
NOTE: To restore messages backed up using the method above, open the email client, download the attached vCard file, and import it via “Messages”
Back Up / Restore Tasks:
- Launch “Tasks” and tap “Menu”
- Tap “Import / Export”
- Tap “Export to SD card”
To restore tasks:
- Open “Tasks” and tap “Menu”
- Select “Import / Export” > “Import from SD card”
Back Up Your Dictionary:
- Open the phone’s “Settings” menu
- Tap “Language & Keyboard” > “HTC Sense input”
- Select “Personal dictionary” and tap “Menu”
- Choose to “Back up to email” or “Back up to storage”
- Tap “OK” to confirm
