Back Up App Data:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to “Settings”
- Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup and reset”
- If necessary, tap “Backup account”
- Select “Google account” > “Add account”
- Sign in with the Google account you want to use for the backup
- Enable “Back up my data” and “Backup account”
Back Up Contacts via an HTC or Google Account:
- Make sure the phone is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
- Tap “Apps” on the home screen
- Open “Settings” and scroll to “Personal”
- Tap “Backup and reset” > “Backup account”
- Select “Google Account” or “HTC account”
- If you want your phone to perform automatic daily backups over Wi-Fi, enable “Automatic backup”
- To back up your contacts manually tap “Back up now”
Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:
- Connect the HTC 10 to your computer via USB
- At the prompt, turn on “Media device (MTP)” / “File Transfer (MTP)”, otherwise swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen and enable the option there
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media files on your phone and copy them
- Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
Back Up Media Files on a Mac:
- Connect the HTC 10 to your Mac via USB
- On the phone, swipe the “Notification” bar down and enable “Media device (MTP)” / “File transfer (MTP)”
- Open the File Finder on the Mac and locate the media files on the phone
- Copy the files and paste them in the desired backup location on the Mac
- Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage by dragging its virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it into the “Trash can”
- You can now safely disconnect the HTC 10 from the USB
