Enable Power Saver Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Access “Settings
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Power
  4. Tap “Power saver” and tick the boxes associated with the power saving options you want to turn ON
  5. Tap the switch associated with “Power saver” to turn on the feature

Disable Unused Connectivity Options:

NOTE: By turning off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS when unused, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” switches to disable the features
  3. For GPS options, scroll to and tap “Location
  4. Tap “Mode” and turn on “Battery saving
  5. For Hotspot options, go to “Settings
  6. Next tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  7. Tap “Mobile network sharing” and disable “Mobile Hotspot

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switch to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Tap “Mobile data
  3. Tap “Network mode
  4. Select “GSM only

Reduce Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Phone
  2. Tap “Display & Gestures
  3. Tap “Brightness level” and disable “Automatic brightness” if necessary
  4. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
  5. Go back to “Display & Gestures” and tap “Screen timeout
  6. Select a lower timeout value like “15 seconds

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Third party apps can perform background processes regularly, and thus they can potentially affect battery life when they are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps you could improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings
  3. Tap “Apps” under “Phone
  4. Go to “Downloaded” and select the desired application
  5. Tap “Disable” to turn the app OFF
  6. To remove the app from the device, tap “Uninstall” > “OK

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your accounts / apps to reduce sync, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Tap “Accounts & Sync
  3. Tap an app to disable background sync
  4. For more sync options, you can select an account type and account

Keep the OS Up to Date:

NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life, and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new software updates are available for download:

  1. Go to “Settings” and scroll to “Phone
  2. Tap “About
  3. Access “Software information
  4. Tap “Check now” and check if a new update is available. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot. Save any unsaved work before proceeding)
