Back Up App Data:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup and reset”
- Tap “Backup account”
- Select an existing account or tap “Google Account” > “Add account”
- Sign in with your account
- Enable “Back up my data” and “Backup account”
Back up Contacts on an HTC or Google Account:
- Make sure the phone is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
- Tap “Apps” the home screen
- Open “Settings” and scroll to “Personal”
- Tap “Backup and reset”
- Select “Google Account” or “HTC Account”
- Enable “Automatic backup” to allow the device to perform automatic daily backups over Wi-Fi
- To back up contacts manually, tap “Back up now”
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the HTC U Play to your computer via USB
- Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Next, locate and copy the desired media files on the phone storage
- Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
- Connect the HTC device to your computer via USB
- Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the “notification” area
- Open the File Finder on the Mac
- Use the File Finder to locate the media files on the phone
- Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the Mac storage
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and into the “Trash can”
- You can now safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
