NOTE: You can visit this thread for instructions on how to back up app data, contacts, and media files on the HTC U Play.
Restore App Data:
- Ensure the phone is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Personal”
- Tap “Backup and reset” > “Restore from HTC Backup”
- Follow the on-screen steps to select a backup account and complete the process
Restore Contacts from a Google Account:
- Open “Settings”
- Tap “Accounts & Sync” under “Personal”
- Sign in with the Google account containing the desired contacts
- Go to the account’s sync options
- Make sure “Contacts” is checked then tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”
Restore Media Files from a Windows Computer:
- Connect the HTC U Play to your computer via USB
- Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
- Open the File Finder on the computer and locate the media file backups on the computer storage
- Copy and transfer the backup files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder or the directories they originate from
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:
- Connect the HTC device to your Mac via USB
- Enable “File Transfer” / “Media Device” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
- Launch the File Finder on the Mac and locate the desired media file backups on the Mac storage
- Copy and paste the files on the phone storage, preferably in the folder(s) they originate from
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it into the “Trash can”
- You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
