    Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably, or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the app’s cache/data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all personal information stored within the app will be lost. This includes credit card and login information, high scores, settings, user profiles, save games etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Open “Settings
    3. Scroll to “Phone” and tap “Apps
    4. Select the desired app and tap “Storage” > “Clear cache
    5. If clearing the cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” > “OK” (check WARNING above)

    Clear the Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your phone crashes, freezes, or runs out of storage inexplicably and you’re considering fixing the issues by factory resetting the device, alternatively, you can try clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can yield similar results to a factory reset without losing any personal data stored on the phone storage.

    1. Ensure the phone is powered OFF
    2. Press and hold “Volume down” and “Power” at the same time
    3. Once the phone vibrates, release “Power
    4. In the “hTC download menu”, release “Volume Down” too
    5. From the menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “Reboot to bootloader
    6. Press “Power” to confirm the selected option
    7. At the HTC logo and “No Command” screen, press and hold “Power” then tap and release “Volume Up
    8. Once in the “Android Recovery” screen, release “Power
    9. Navigate the recovery menu by pressing “Volume down” repeatedly and highlight “Wipe cache partition
    10. Press “Power” to confirm
    11. After the cache partition is wiped, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power” to confirm

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t solve the issue, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the phone instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you can try and uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled by default.

    1. While on the home screen, press and hold “Power
    2. From the “Power options” pop-up, tap and hold “Power off
    3. At the “Reboot to Safe Mode” prompt, tap “Restart” to confirm
    4. After the phone finishes restarting, a “Safe Mode” label should be shown in the lower-left corner of the home screen
    5. To uninstall an app, first open “Settings
    6. Then scroll to “Phone” and tap “Apps
    7. Access “Downloaded
    8. Select the desired app and tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to confirm
    9. To exit Safe Mode, simply press and hold “Power” and reboot your phone as you would do normally
