NOTE: You can visit this thread for a guide on how to back up app data, contacts, and media files on the HTC U Ultra.
Restore App Data:
- Make sure your HTC device is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup and reset”
- Tap “Restore from HTC Backup”
- Follow the on-screen prompts to select a backup account and complete the restore
Restore Contacts from a Google Account:
- Launch “Settings”
- Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts & Sync”
- Sign in with the Google account containing the desired contacts
- Access the account’s sync options
- Ensure “Contacts” is checked
- Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”
Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Connect the HTC U Ultra to your computer via USB
- Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
- Launch the File Finder on the computer and locate the media file backups on the computer storage
- Copy and paste the backup files on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folder(s) they originate from
- After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:
- Connect the HTC U Ultra to your Mac via USB
- Enable “Media Device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
- Open the File Finder on the Mac
- Locate the desired media backup files
- Copy and transfer the files on the phone storage, preferably in the folder(s) they originate from
- Once the transfer is complete, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it into the “Trash can” to eject it
- You can now safely disconnect the device from the USB port
