Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache or data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including user profiles, login and credit card information, high scores, save files etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Scroll to “Phone” and tap “Apps
  3. Select the desired app and tap “Storage
  4. Tap “Clear cache
  5. If clearing the cache didn’t solve the issues, tap “Clear data” > “OK” (check WARNING above)

Wipe the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your device freezes, crashes, or runs out of storage inexplicably and you are considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can lead to results similar to a factory reset without losing any personal data on the phone.

  1. Turn the device Off
  2. Press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” simultaneously
  3. Once the phone vibrates, release “Power
  4. At the “hTC download menu”, release “Volume down
  5. While in the menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “Reboot to bootloader
  6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  7. At the “No Command” screen, press and hold “Power” and “Volume Up” at the same time
  8. Once in Android Recovery, release both keys
  9. Press “Volume down” to navigate to and highlight “Wipe cache partition
  10. Press “Power” to confirm
  11. Once the cache is cleared, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power

NOTE: If clearing the phone’s cache partition didn’t help, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Press and hold “Power” on the home screen
  2. In the “Power options” pop-up, tap and hold “Power off
  3. At the “Reboot to Safe Mode” prompt, tap “Restart
  4. Wait for the phone to reboot. NOTE: a “Safe Mode” label should be shown in the lower area of the home screen
  5. Next, open “Settings” and go to “Apps
  6. Access “Downloaded” and select the desired app
  7. Tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to confirm
  8. To exit Safe Mode, press and hold “Power” to restart your device as you would do normally
