NOTE: Check this thread for instructions on how to back up app data, contacts, and media.
Restore App Data:
- If necessary, connect the HTC device to an active Wi-Fi network
- Open “Settings”
- Access “Backup and reset”
- Tap “Restore from HTC Backup” and follow the on-screen prompts
Restore Contacts from an Account:
- Open “Settings”
- Go to “Personal” > “Accounts & Sync”
- Log in with the desired Google or HTC backup account
- Make sure “Contacts” is checked then tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”
Restore Media Files from a PC:
- Connect the HTC phone to the PC via USB
- Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media file backups on the computer
- Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders from where they originate
- Once done, you can safely disconnect the device from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a Mac:
- Connect the Android device to the Mac via USB
- On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device”
- Open the File Finder on the Mac and locate the media file backups on the computer storage
- Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the directories of origin
- Once done, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it over the “trash can” to eject it
