Will the SIM card in this phone work in a 900/1800 GSM phone overseas? I
used to have an international SIM card from Cingular, but the canceled it
when I got my GAIT phone since they could only issue one SIM per phone
    number.

I have not gotten an anwer on this from Cingular. If it won't work, then I
will probably use prepaid SIMS and lose my phone number when overseas.

cingular authorizes international roaming. If there's no
international roaming authorized for your account you cannot use it in
international locations. If you want to use it internationally you'll
have to call cingular and have them enable it.

After all of your money is gone to Cingular International Roaming, get a
local pre-paid SIM and an appropriate phone to use in that country.

Is Canada considered "international"? If it is, Cingular is many
strides ahead of Verizon because for areas by the border, when a Verizon
phone displays 'home' banner, it will actaully connect to Canada's
towers, and you will see the solid roam only after the call has been
established. I will be spending some time up near Canada next week, so
    I was wondering about that.
