Is it possible to temporararily disable the camera function on the
T610? My company has banned camera phones for security reasons, so if
I stop that function from working then arguably there isn't a problem.

    TIA,

    Colin

Camphones have thrown up a whole raft of etiquette & moral issues. The
canny paparazzo will have a phone with the plugin camera in their
pocket. Can't you convince Security that the camera is so poor that its
only use is a basis for abstract art? The problem with disabling the
camera is that it's likely to be permanent & needs to be obvious. I
suggest an automatic centre punch on the lens or using another phone for
work - perhaps one provided by Security!

just *try* taking out the camera module bit after opening up the phone and
    see if it boots

How about putting a piece of duct tape over the lens?

The problem with any kind of "temporary" disabling is that it is
reversible, so if I was in charge of security, I would not accept that.
And I would probably also not accept permanently disabled cameras because
    it's very difficult to police.

Do you need the T-610 features at work? Else, you could get a cheap second
phone and move the SIMs between the T610.

The other possibility is to contact your provider and ask if they would
exchange the T-610 for a T-68. Maybe if enough people do that, they will
    get the message.

I tried getting a T-68 from T-Mobile USA; the only non-camera phone with
Bluetooth available. Unfortunately, they wanted twice as much for the
    T-68...

Thankyou, but no thankyou! I'm in the UK anyhoo. My T610 is only
about a month old and I quite like it, so I'm going to stick with it.
I'll just have to be discrete when I need to use it.

    Thanks anyway.
