Had my SE P900 for a while now, and I hadn't quite got round to adding all
my contacts into it.
I found a bit of time this weekend, and I synced my P900 to the Windows
Address Book (WAB). Worked fine.... although I noted that the addresses
had a square box between each line in the addresses that I had stored
on my P900. Anyway, I added all my contacts to the WAB and re-synced.
What a mess! Many lines from the addresses had become separate entries on
the P900.
I suspect it is something to do with the format of the addresses and the
little square boxes.
Anyone know of a way round this? What do people use who don't use Outlook?
Does the sync work ok with Outlook. If I can't find a resolution to the WAB
problem, I guess I'll have to use outlook for syncing.... which in turn will
mean trying to get stuff from WAB to outlook and then getting outlook to
sync with my P900 (it currently won't do so as I don't have Outlook on my
machine).

The little square boxes are binary newline charachters. The P900 obviously
does not send ASCII text back to windows when syncronising. As to what to do
about it... how are you doing the syncronisation, if you are using some text
file or CSV then there is a way around it. Also is there a setting anywhere
int he P900 software to change the output of its address book to ASCII. I
presume the sync will work with outlook just fine although i dont have any
specifics on the P900.

Thanks for the reply.
The P900 comes with sync software so I am using that. I am not using and
intermediate CSV (or similar) file.
I would have hoped the SE software would have translated between the WAB
format and its internal format as it implies it supports syncing to WAB.
I don't remember seeing any way of configuring the sync but I could be
wrong. Will need to check this out.
Anyone got the P800/P900 SE software syncing with WAB?
Cheers

I use both Outlook XP and Outlook 2003 with mine, with no problems
whatsoever. I'd suggest your issues are WABs fault - it's always been a bit
of a poor-man's bodge !
