Hi,
Does anyone know where i can find a copy of the sony T610 connection
manager software? or anything that will work???
I've just bought myself a Bluetooth Adapter for my Sony T610 mobile,
only to find that XP doesnt contain any sort of generic driver for a
bluetooth adapter. But thinking about it, realise that why should
microsoft develop anything useful....
any help will be much appreciated.

Re: Sony EricssonT610 blutooth software
bluetooth standard was an emerging standard, not defacto when xp was in
release candidate, so of course it wont be included. it's up to the adapter
manufacturer to provide the drivers.
didnt you get a software cd with the phone? i believe you can buy the xtnd
connect software from sonyericsson support site for about 12.99

Re: Sony EricssonT610 blutooth software
After XP SP1 (ie after bluetooth become closer to a defacto standard),
Microsoft did provide a hook for bluetooth comms.

I use a Wavelinker dongle.
The software is free on their site, but I've found out that the Belkin
software works too. (also free on their site)

Windows XP Service Pack 2 has native bluetooth support, which works fairly
well... It's not finished yet though. The Release Candiate 1 (RC1) is
available to download though and works well... If you hunt around, you
should be able to find the XPSP2 RC1 installer somewhere (i forget where I
got it)

When looking for software for a SonyEricsson phone, you may want to look at
SonyEricsson's web site !
When looking for software for a Bluetooth adapter you just bought, you may
want to look at the producer's web site !

I have XP, and I am having trouble with my bluetooth software. I have SP1.
SHould I have the bluetooth support by default, or is it something extra I
have to add? I don't see it in the "windows update" thing.

My t610 box has a CD with extend-connect. I haven't used it yet (didn't
think to look), but it was definitely in there.

Without any driver software? From a pal in the pub/car boot sale maybe?
Go to the manufacturers Web site and get the driver there. I use a belkin
PCMIA BT card with my T610 and you dont need SE's own software to
send/receive ringtones/pictures/themes etc, probably only need it for your
phone book.

Jason,
What is actually in the SP-2 for XP? can't be much if it's only 3 mb, SP-1
was about 120 or so, from memory.
Thanks

what a load of (whatever you like here).
The XPSP2 is a huge feature upgrade which adresses a load of security
critical system areas and it adds full Bluetooth 1.1 support to the
OS. You can't do that with about 3 Meg. The Downloadable Installer on
the MS Website is about 260MB in size.
======
What you might have is a critical security patch that is part of SP2
but released earlier to fix a special security hole.
BTW: FMA and the SE Software both work well with the XPSP2 Bluetooth
system.

Basically the previously spoke of native Bluetooth, as well as some other
little things like enhanced security areas (including boot time security),
improved firewall, and a more robust wireless networking front end. The size
is small, but if I remember correctly, it is somewhat like the old IE
updates ... it is basically an installer app that downloads the components
needed. Not 100% sure about that, but I believe that's what it was.

Hmm I wonder how I got the native bluetooth, boot time security, enhanced
firewall, and wireless networking enhancements from it then. I wonder why my
system properties display my OS as "Service Pack 2" now. I wonder why I have
been downloading SP2 updates off Windows Update since installing my "not
SP2". Oh yeah, that's right, you don't know what you are talking about.
Speak your (whatever you like here) somewhere where you know what you are
talking about, or be a bit more polite and ask how all the files are
acquired from this installer, instead of showing your ignorance.

Just double checked to make sure due to the extremely rude, uneducated post
left by another person, and my memory was correct.
