    Aloha,

I have a T616 on ATTWS that's not even a week old, and have been
encountering this problem as long as I've had it:

I'll leave it alone for a while, and will return to find that its auto-keylock
(which I told it to use) has come on, and that furthermore, ONLY the numeric
keys are working; the "Unlock" key doesn't do anything, so I can't unlock it.

At various times I've been able to get it to reconsider its antisocial
behavior by rapidly massaging the keypad with a thumb (pushing many keys at
once), pushing the volume keys, taking out the battery AND the SIM card...
none of which are acceptable remedies for a problem that has occurred at
    least once a day.

This seems to happen primarily when I've missed a couple calendar entries
during keylock. I suppose it could be some sort of firmware/UI issue where
there are too many things "on-screen" due to calendar events and it just
freaks out... kind of like when there are a ton of modal dialogues on a PC
waiting to be closed, they can get stuck "behind" one another.

So... I'm wondering - is this a known problem with this model? Or do I just
have a bad unit? I know it had been displayed to other people at the ATTWS
store before I got it, since it had other people's test photos in it when I
looked at it at the store, and the box didn't have a charger in it either.

I can easily take it back and ask for a new one, but if a new one will act
the same way, I might opt to take it back and ask for something else entirely.

    -Dan

Not meaning to insult your intelligence, but I assume you are also pressing
the "*" key after pressing the "unlock" button?

The first thing to check for are stuck keys. If one key is stuck "down," it
will keep other keys from working.

At the risk of stating the bleedin' obvious, you do realise that it's not
"the unlock key" ("More", top right) but "the unlock keys" ("More", top
right *immediately* followed by "*", bottom left) don't you?

YES. However, if "More" isn't responding, hitting "*" doesn't get me much.

Um, yeah. Pressing "*" by itself brings up the "press unlock then *" tip
screen; pressing "unlock" does nothing. I tried using manual keylock and
    it still happened.
