Hi,
I'm using a T610 primarily as a modem to transfer data from a linux
machine to a server using GPRS. I'm using a DLink usb dongle to
interface with the box which is running Suse 8.2. After the initial
hassle of setting up bluetooth with linux and the phone, the phone has
worked great sending 300Kb / 20 minutes for over a month with the
occasional manual reset of the T610.
However, over the last two days the setup has become unstable, and its
rare that I can keep the bluetooth connection for longer than a couple
of hours. This is remedied by manually reseting the T610, but I'm lost
on figuring out why this is happening, especially given that there has
been no change in the configuration of the phone or the linux box.
Could it be the bluetooth dongle?
The only strange thing is the following entry in the /var/log/messages
file:
Jul 3 12:57:00 hostname pppd[32264]: pppd 2.4.1 started by root, uid
0
Jul 3 12:57:20 hostname kernel: Warning: null TTY for (d8:00) in
tty_fasync
Jul 3 12:57:20 hostname pppd[32264]: Failed to open /dev/rfcomm0:
Host is down
I've found one or two messages re: tty_fasync in one of the kernel
usenet groups, but it didn't really shed any light on my problem.
Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks,
Tom

Haven't tried any linux connections with mine, but I have to reset my 610
every few weeks to keep bluetooth synch with MS and reliable connection to
my HBH 65 headset. I also loose local area info. I suspect it's a soft
firmware problem. A PITA but once you know how to deal with it...

Looks like the kernel is failing to recognize the dongle on occasions.

Yes you could try another dongle. Also have you got, or could borrow
another BT phone to try (just to eliminate the phone from the problem)?
