Before I go and order a new housing and LCD for my smashed t610 ('er indoors
"dropped it"), does anyone have an idea how hard they are to replace for the
    average ham-fisted person?

Pretty easy. The hardest part is taking the aerial cover off. Full
dismantle instructions are at the UselessInfo site in my sig.

A bit tricky but not overly so. I was worried about causing some damage
but I didn't and I'm usually good at breaking things!
