Question re KeyGen. I know its probably pretty illegal to use, but if I put
my IMEI into the KenGen, how traceable is it back to me?

I know it is illegal even to ask but i have no choice.
Can somebody tell me how i can change my IMEI number....just email me
    or something.

    This is whay:
I found sony ericsson P910i, i waited for the owner to come looking for
it, but no one came. As you know the P910i is very expensive and it was
probably reported missing to the police. I had the phone now for 4
mounths and just found out that they can find me through IMEI number. I
have everything on this phone now, and giving it up ain`t an option.

    Help!

You do know that if you find some lost property you're not supposed to
wander off with it in the hope that the rightful owner can somehow
divine your address and contact details. You're supposed to take it to
the police so that if it has been reported stolen it can be returned to
the rightful owner. In most countries that I've lived in if the item
hasn't been claimed in six months you can go to teh police station and
you'll be allowed to keep it yourself.

You should have taken it to the police and you wouldn't have this
    problem.

Erm, what kind of messed up thinking is this. What about the real owner?
Was his or her information that was on the phone not important then? How
do you think they felt when their phone was lost. You are incredibly
    selfish.

You realy are a standup guy!

But you don`t know ****! I found the phone infront of the local
hospital. I went in and told the guy at the reception what had happend
and gave him my address and phone number if some one should come back
asking for the phone. After 2 mounths nobody came! So i capted!

You know what if i think about it...how many times my phone was
stolen...the owner should have taken better care of his phone.

So don`t give me that honest guy rutine!

    P.S.
    Sory for the bad english.

And your point is? You should have handed the phone in to the local Police.
At the very least you could have had a look throught the phone book and
perhaps tried any numbers tha seemed to be related to the owners family.

    > You know what if i think about it...how many times my phone was

Perhaps they should, it still doesn't give you a right to keep something
    that's not yours.

    > So don`t give me that honest guy rutine!

Piss off! You've already stated that you know what you're asking is
illegal, but you still want someone to risk heavy penalties so you can keep
    someone elses property.

    > P.S.
    > Sory for the bad english.

PS. Sorry for the bad language!

You know that what you want to do is illegal, and you also know that what
you've already done is wrong. This has been quite reasonably confirmed by
other posters you still seem to think you have a right to do it!?!?!

hope this is not a valid address as i have forwarded it to the police and not
sure if news groups can be taken as a confession. but you admit you took a
phone without really trying to find the rightful owner.

if you had taken it to a police station the phone would (i believe ) be
yours in a few weeks. as anything unclaimed goes back to the finder.

you could of course see what the network was and ask them to trace the
original owner, from the IMEI number

if you had been an honest sort of guy the phone could have been yours. but
your NOT you are a thief you took something without consent and took no
    proper action to return it.

    <snip>

Then you'd probably be looking at forwarding to the filth in Slovenia....or
to his ISP's abuse address (see RIPE whois database result under post).
Won't have a lot of effect, I suspect, but you're right about one thing -
the guy's a dishonest git.....and curiously yet amusingly misguided in his
    opinion about personal property-rights ;-)
