I am having a problem with Bluetooth and I wonder if you can help me.

I have a Sony Ericsson V800 mobile phone and I am trying to set it up to
communicate with my PC via Bluetooth. I have a Belkin F8T001 v2 Bluetooth
adapter. I am trying to connect my PC to my mobile phone.

However, my PC and phone just cannot see each other so I cannot even pair
them. I am using Win XP Pro with SP2.
I know there are problems with Bluetooth and SP2 but the strange thing is I
have a laptop with Win XP Pro and SP2 and I can connect the laptop and the
mobile phone using the same Belkin F8T001 v2 Bluetooth adapter.
There doesn't seem to be anything obviously different between the laptop and
    desktop PC.

Why can my laptop connect via Bluetooth to my mobile phone when my desktop
PC can't even though they use the same Bluetooth adapter?

Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing?

How do I solve my problem?

Any help or information given will be gratefully appreciated.

    I hope you can help.

    Thanks!

    Neil

    Hi Neil,

Here some ideas you might want to try/follow:

    - Try connecting your Laptop with your PC (just pair the two devices and
connect for example a serial port connection)

    - If your desktop is already connected with the phone (indicated by the
B<> icon, with the two blue arrows in and out), or if you have your BT
Headset connected (indicated by a Headset icon), you cannot connect any
other device (only one active connection at a time)
This is the issue with my V800 (z800i) phone constantly: I keep
    forgetting to disconnect my headset...

    - you can only "see" a new device if it is set to "Visible": [V800:]
Menu - Connectivity (lower left) - Bluetooth - visibility - show phone ,
this has only to be done for the pairing, after that you can reset this
to "hide phone". (keeps those bluejacking numbheads off your back)

    - Try connecting the other way around: [Laptop:] Control Panel -
Bluetooth - Options - [enable Search] (I don't have an english operating
system - although it *should* be the topmost checkbox) and then try to
find your laptop with your phone over [V800:] Menu - Connectivity (lower
left) - Bluetooth - my devices - new device.

The V800 (z800i) works just fine for me with both Windows XP SP2 Native
Drivers (Desktop and Mediacenter PC) and the WIDCOMM drivers (Laptop)

Try and plug it into a differant usb port. also, when you run the hardware
    wizard, do it manualy,
if your PC doesn't read the usb port, go to the device controll and see if
your port needs to be updated
