Hi,
After sending my T68i off to vodafone for repairing of the yes button it
was returned with the message saying " not covered by warrantee - water
damage". Ok, fair enough, so i try switching the phone on ( the yes
button was the only fault before) and nothing - none of the buttons
work. I'm really mad by this stage, and the buttons felt solid with no
travel. Something funny is going on. The store manager gave me no joy at
all and suggested that i should buy another one year contact - you've
got to be kidding, i thought.
So, i had my phone looked at separately, the result of their inquiry
into the phone showed that the phone had be reassembled without the
metal membrane that make the contacts with the main board. Also that the
only a slight amount of corrosion was present on the yes button
contacts. A simple cleaning and the phone is 100% functional except for
the missing part.
Does anyone know if it's vodafone policy not to return working phones if
they are out of warrantee? that way 95% of people will buy a new one!
Would anyone happen to know how i can buy a new metal membrane for the
t68i and return it to working order?
Thankyou for reading and any input that you can give,
All the best,
Guy Hill

Have you tried contacting their repair centre to explain the findings?
You could get a report written up by your separate party and send it to
Vodafone asking them to replace the part they removed. If they refuse, you
may be able to pursue them through the courts. Although this may be very
time consuming unless you are a member of something like the Which Legal
Service.
Good luck.
Anybody on this group got an old broken T68 that they'll break up to send
Guy the membrane?
Jeremy.

Re: T68i --Vodafone Repair--Now Missing Membrane !!!
I would kick up a big fuss and hassle Vodaphone as much as possible. Did you
get any reciept quoting the problem you reported when the phone was left?

Re: T68i --Vodafone Repair--Now Missing Membrane !!!
Thanks for the suggestions, i've been back to the local vodafone shop
(again) and the phone is being sent back for repair (again). Let's hope
that it returns with more parts rather than less. It's such a simple
problem that i'm optamistic for it being sorted out at the repair
centre, i'll email the outcome in a few weeks,
all the best,
Guy
