use your Bluetooth software to pair the phone with the PC and set a
serial connection over Bluetooth.
Then set XTND (or better the SE Phone Monitor) to use that.
Good luck

There is no such option and it isn't needed.
In phone monitor options under control panel, go to the com ports tab. In
your bluetooth icon in the tray, right click it, quick connect, bluetooth
serial port, then select the device. It should mention a com port. Going
back to the phone monitor options, select the appropriate com port and click
enable. You should get something about naming the phone and sim. Xtnd
connect should now work....

Ok, render me clueless (or perhaps blind) but I have no such thing as
a "phone monitor" option in my control panel on my XP. Am I missing
something?

Yes, you've missed to install the SE Phone Monitor. Therefore the sync
CAN NOT work with XTND. Almost all other SE Applications will deny to
work as well.

You can have look in our Bluetooth Guides for this. There's an option for
using XTNDConnect (better) and the Bluetooth PIM Objects Sync (no
filtering).
The guides have step-by-step screenshots

I've installed Sony Ericsson Communication Suite 1.5.7 which is the
only software I could find on SE's site regarding this. Where can I
find SE Phone Monitor? I thought everything was included in the
"Suite"
btw - thanks for your quick and precise answers. I appreciate that.

Thanks!
For those of you with similar problems, the SE phone monitor is part
of the communications suite. I missed it because the installer does
not prompt me to restart the install. That is, once the installation
of communication suite is complete, do it again and the Phone monitor
gets installed.
