My BT software has created a virtual BT serial port on COM4.

When trying to install the Ericsson Bluetooth Modem driver on my Win98SE
platform, I'm only offered either COM1 or COM2 to install the modem on --
both the physical ports. Doesn't this need to go on my COM4? And if so, how
can I get COM4 to come up in the list of ports to choose from?!

    TIA.

You really don't need any software installed to use the modem. Once the
devices are paired, just right-click the icon corresponding to your mobile
phone and select "Connect to dial". It'll create the associations.

Also, the BT dial up is *another* COM port. The BT COM ports are for othere
    devices.
