Yeah yeah, I'm behind with the times...

....but with "new" R520m's being available for 60 british pounds, I
couldn't resist. They look so nice (don't like this fad for tiny phones
with no aerials and inbuilt cameras/breville sandwich toasters etc.) and
seems to be far more functional than quite a lot of phones at the £200
    mark. Coo.

I've been reading a bit about the firmware revisions in this phone. Mine
has the R2K firmware, and although there are several newer revisions there
is little online to say what has actually been added/bugfixed. So far
everything seems to be running smoothly, I was just wondering what's so
great about the later firmware revisions and work out whether I can be
bothered to get it flashed. Will my phone explode and kill all children
within a 6 mile radius if I don't get it upgraded? Anyone with any hints
please tell me what's new :P

Apart form all that, the R520m seems to be a lovely phone. Shame this
kind of design has been abandoned by SE and its competitors. Ho-hum

Excellent phone. Even by todays standards. If your not into photograpy, or
your happy with a Mobile Phone, not a JukeBox, the r520m does the job, and
does it well. Im considering getting one for the hell of it. I did the same
when the Ericsson 380w hit ebay for next to nothing also. Another phone
ahead of its time. If I plan on doing alot of EMAILING in the course of the
day I tajke that. Excellent for SMS or EMAIl with that screen/stylus/
    combination.
Anyway, here is some good WAP sites get ya going. these are all sites you
access from your PCs HTML Browser to setup and will instruct you on WAP
    access on your phone.

I use the following sites. With WAP you need a backup LOL
http://www.mywaplinks.com Excellent site for PIM, Links, EMAIL etc. Also,
nice feature, will create you a custom URL so when you loginto the site,
yopu are logged in and ready to go no password needed We have had issues
with some phones not accessing. Have not determined if its a problem with
Gateway Used or Type of Phone browser. See what happens needed.
http://www.wapterror.de Has a My Links section Has nice website that
interfaces with WAP/ Lets you read news and send messages to other members.
Site is under a major revamp, of which I am having a part. I welcome any
suggestions. it has been dormant for almost 2 years. Has a lot of potential.

http://www.tagtag.com Make your own WAP portal with Links and also has
ringtones and picture support for your phone Another good site

Here's a copy of Olaf Peuss very good summary :

    * Stability of GPRS data connections improved (1)
    * Sender's name displayed upon reception of text messages if sender has
already been stored in the phone book (instead of just the number)
    * A small icon in front of each entry the call lists shows whether a
    call
came from / was made to a person's mobile, business or private phone if
sender has already been stored in the phone book (instead of just name
    and
    number)
    * E-mail client generally accepts DNS entries for POP3 and SMTP servers
    instead of IP addresses.
    * A couple of minor glitches have been addressed in order to make the
    phone
    work better and "smoother.

    (1) I'll only add : compatibility with GPRS PBCCH fonctionnality
