Hi all, I recently purchased a T610. On the day of purchase I found taking
pictures to be quite good, and even in the motion of the car they were
great. Only a few hours later (this may have always been the case but I
don't recal) now when I take pictures I have to keep the camera still as the
picture that appears during the 'Please Wait' screen is different to the one
after it has processed. Is this normal? I hope I made sense?
TIA

Yes, it happens with mine. I guess it pauses then takes a picture and says
please wait so I guess there is a slight delay of nearly a second or so
before it takes a pic.

Thanks, that makes me feel better,
After doing some more reading I think it has something to do with the
'shutter speed' but I am not sure how to change it, or whatever...if anyone
has any info on that??
TIA

You can't change shutter speed AFAIK but on latest firmware
pressing
1 toggles between small and large picture
2 toggles between night mode and non-night mode
3 toggles between special effects (black/white, sepia, negative, normal etc)
4 toggles between timer on and timer off
Also hitting up and down and left and right makes some sort of
saturation/lightness alteration.
Hope this helps.
I'm still thinking of splashing out and getting myself a Canon Ixus 400
because I think the pictures from the T610 have nothing but fun value TBH...

The mobile phone cameras are ONLY toys - I am thinking of the Canon EOSD300
for a real camera

Yup, I'd think of getting one of them too if I had the money :-)
Either a 35ml low end SLR or something like a Canon Ixus 400 is all I can
stretch to I think :-)

Hey, that was great info! Wish I'd known that before!
Thank you. (And of course, I don't think my phone has the latest firmware,
aargh!)

The Canon Ixus 400 is an excellent camera and a great size too. I strongly
recommend it. I seem to be able to produce better shots with it then my
Minolta SLR (which is weird).

Why is it weird ? Both my Nikon CP5700 and my Fuji 2800z produce better
shots than my slr - it just so happens that my slr was made when I was
knee-high to a grasshopper though !

yes but the canon, being digital, will always have a lower quality image
than an SLR on 35mm film. But when I look and compare the two the Cannon
seems better.
