Hi I'm close to a decision to buy a P900.

One piece of desired functionality that I have not been able to
establish via online technical information I have come across is:

Will the device be capable of being power recharged from a Laptop
    connection i.e. USB 2.0 port.

If the anser is yes, will this cable be the same as the syncronisation
    cable.

    Thanks for any knowledgeable answers.

    Rgds Martin

a DCU-11 should be the cable you want
    (http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?...%26LM%3DSD_VPF)

It is only USB 1.1, but is listed as compatable with the P900. While the
SE site doesn't mention being able to charge up the phone with it,
various online stores say that you can (eg Expansys: The USB cable also
features a charger port, that lets you charge the phone while the cable
    is in use)

I havn't had any experience with this cable, so someone else will have
to ascertain that this all works as you plan to use it, or you will have
to with whatever store you buy it from.

    Hi

I use a third party (non-SonyEricsson) USB charging and sync cable which
seems to work fine. I bought mine in a Vodafone shop.

    Regards

The DCU-11 cable has a port for charging does not mean you can charge from
the USB Port what you can do is plug in you're wall charger to the back of
the phone connector and charge while you have it connected to the laptop
    etc.

as mentioned already there are aftermarket solutions which may do what you
    require.

I have never seen an "official" USB charging cable for a phone. I have
seen numerous USB charging cables - not sure if the P900 has one - but
they've all been from third parties, and have been rather...loose with
the USB spec. Your USB device is supposed to ask for power before it
    starts drawing it.

Of course, your USB host is supposed to monitor the current draw, and
turn off devices that draw too much without asking. If your computer
is properly designed, you should be fine. But when your phone cable
assumes your computer is properly designed, and your computer assumes
your phone cable is properly designed, you run risks.

I have a Motorola T720i USB charging cable. It works by wiring the USB
power into the charging jack of the phone. ON my USB hub it works
perfectly. I don't use it on devices like my laptop that I am paranoid
    about.
