Ericsson T39M OR a r520M

If I may also suggest, the Ericsson r520M is pretty close to a BIG 39M. the
phone has the same features, plus a few extra such as the Proximity sensor,
that the 39M doesnt have (Gotta be careful, I dont think 39M has the
Proximity sensor?). it has also become prevalent everywhere as Ericsson
sells off a ton of these that were stuck in warehouses. I just recently, and
I got very lucky, got one off EBAY NEW In The Box for $30 including
shipping. The standard price is about $50-$60 with shipping. A very good
alternative to the 39M and at this price point, you could still get that 39m
should one come along. Personally, I agree with the 39m Opinions, they all
apply to the r520M, one heck of a phone. And if you don't care about color
screen or camera, still a great phone by todays standards. I HIGHLY
recommend to anyone, as a primary or backup.One more thing, all the
accessories for the r520M and 39m are interchangeable so thats kinda sweet.
Addressing that one post about SMSability, you can get the Chatboard for
about $10 and that speeds it right up.

I just got one of these, and I'm a t39m fan, brilliant phone, full
size screen which helps and the extras mentioned, well worth a look

You're right, the T39 doesn't have a proximity sensor. It doesn't need one,
either, as it doesn't have a hands free speaker which could cause your
eardrums to burst when you lift the phone to your head with the speaker
turned fully on.

My boss doesn't like the R520 very much. He saw me once using it and asked
me "what kind of stoneage device" that was. I politely replied that it was a
rugged phone for real men who wouldn't be satisfied with little children
phones made of fragile plastic, such as Siemens (he uses an S45 :-). I think
he got the drift and shut up, and we still like each other... :-)))

Who needs cameras of such poor quality as they are built in current phone
models. And who wants colour displays which are an eyeball vexation even in
halfway decent daylight? :->

All the accessories except for the original Ericsson car cradle. If you want
one cradle to fit both models, you need to buy the adjustable one from
SonyEricsson that's made to fit a variety of models.

I haven't really experienced any improvemnts in texting speed but as I
mentioned before I'm not a great texter anyway and usually prefer a regualar
computer keyboard to type out my messages to the world. ;-)
