I previously had a Nokia phone, which I could enable the "Net monitor" menu
    using software and a cable.
(Net monitor allows you to monitor channels, signal strength, battery
    levels, etc on Nokia).

Apparently Ericsson phones also have such a feature, but I have not been
able to get any information. Ericsson is not keen to release such
    information.
All I have been able to do is get to the Service menu using a key
    combination.
I have a T230 (yes I know it's very new), but the software/ principles of
activation apply to many other phones in the Sony-Ericsson Txxx series.

    Thanks,

    Xerxes

    Xerxes,

Look at https://sourceforge.net/projects/fma This may give you what you
    need.

I'm using FMA for several weeks now, but I've not seen any
possibility to activate a Nokia-like NetMon so far.

Please give me a clue ...

    Yes, it is possible!
You need a terminator dongle, a patched version of Div8.x and the correct
GDFS files to install on your phone to activate the Net Monitor.
I've got it as I got the battery monitor activated on my T610.

For Nokia and Siemens mobiles there's no need to implement, as
it already exists in the firmware - you just have to know how
to access the menu entry, resp. how to make it visible.

Perhaps there's an equivalent one in SE's firmware, too? A neat
little thingy, just sitting there, feeling bored, waiting to be
    activated ...? ;o)

The address will be redirected to www.gsm-support.com - and this
page seems to be Nokia-only, even the source code of it doesn't
contain the word "nuke". / Do you have some further info for
how to get the nuke page?

There is, a friend of mine was able to activate it for me on my T68i. Not
as comprehensive as the Nokia version.

I can't reveal who did it for me, and the means to activate it are not
    known AFAIAA outside of SE.

    Thanks for the information.
The menus appear to be fewer and less informative than for Nokia phones.
This website confirms the Net Monitor equivalent exists on Nokia phones but
    as the website states:
"The only proper way to activate these features is to go to the Ericsson
service center and request the activate those features on your phone.
However, you must have a legitimate reason for doing so.

There are programs (you will need the appropriate cable) on the internet
that do allow you to activate the indicators on your phone but they have
been written by the underground Ericsson user community and should only be
done at your own risk. Also, be aware that such actions will void your
warranty with Ericsson and could also be illegal in your country. "

You are right. I juste dowloaded Div 8.2 and bought a "terminator
dongle" to activate these features on my R520m's.
